1 day ago Thanks, I'm not on Insta (fuck Zuck) so never saw that post by Steve/Vorsprung. After my post I finally made the connection between what Sprindex does and what you answered earlier with regard to spring rates - by turning the indexer you're shortening the spring/bar length thus making it stiffer.

9/30/2026 6:48am They are about as accurate as most other springs out there - the main thing to note is that they are slightly progressive and the adjuster is closing off the progressive section, so in its stiffest setting it is mostly linear. Vorsprung made a post on instagram about them and referenced the bikeradar article, so I'll paste the text here instead of linking it- Put your nerd hats on, because here we go... thanks to Per Nyberg for bringing this up. A Bikeradar review a good while back (Dec 2020) measured the spring rate variation of a particular Sprindex spring...

1 day ago Is there any consensus on how Sprindex performs vs. an equivalent rate standard steel spring? I remember reading an article from like BikeRadar or somewhere when it was launched, saying that the spring rate was lower than reported, and also that it behaved in a digressive fashion rather than progressive as it was marketed. I've also noticed none of the...

9/29/2026 2:22pm The drool level is off the charts with this one. Rick Schubert snagged some pics of this proto Chromag steel-front-triangle freeride beauty during the World Cup in Whistler. Simple, clean and quite the juxtaposition with the pairing of the garage-made welding vibe and high-tech wireless SRAM XX DH drivetrain.

1 day ago Are they really "prototype" if they're straight out of the factory, but with stickers covering the branding?

1 day ago Megatower and 5010 lines being ended is over a year old. When I got my Bronson last fall, my dealer was asking his SC rep about what was coming, and he was told that then.

9/29/2026 10:31am A solid collection of unofficial Shimano brakes, derailleurs and shifters hanging off of Yeti and Scott bikes from the Whistler World Cup DH. The release has to be soon, right? Have to say, the foil tape covering logos is a nice touch. Seems brands are learning that sharpies can be photoshopped away and if the tape is too thin, embossed artwork can be sleuthed by Vital's nerdiest. photos by Rick Schubert

9/29/2026 10:30am I worked at Fox during the acquisition of Marucchi and can say these were the reasons behind it: Diversify out of the bicycle industry During COVID obviously there was a huge boom and bust cycle in the cycling industry and Fox was really just along for the ride. Record quarters followed by huge slumps. The C-suite decided to aquire a company outside of the cycling industry to hedge against further industry specific disruption. The SSG division of fox stands for Speciality Sports Group, and they wanted to cover more than one sport. There were perceived synergies in the product lines...

9/29/2026 8:39am Heavier than the old one (52+ lbs for S-Works models), which was also a pig. Same dumb super linear suspension setup that requires their proprietary shocks. Chasing Avinox in power number wars, meaning the huge battery is required and range suffers. The Levo 3 was very common around where I live (and also developed a terrible reputation due to reliability)...

9/29/2026 8:31am Can confirm Megatower will not be updated, likely will stick around till they have no more units. The general thesis at SC is the ebikes will be 4 bar and the pedal bikes will stick to VPP (at least until PON decides they have to go open mold on all their frames). Yeti ST is being released this year as an updated 120 to the new suspension platform.

9/29/2026 6:43am Big shout out to Wyn for the pits video. Those little insights we learn about Jacob Jewetts shoulder, Gwin being the last one to leave the pits and Mad Maxs brake levers captures these athletes in a way that the morons from WBD will never be able to when they shove a mike in front of them. Hope he has a long future in downhill when he stops racing.

9/29/2026 6:42am Smoking the chainring (+ chain) against a rock can do that. It's not a case where it snapped out the start gate or something where it broke from pedaling torque.
