The RS has MIPS Integra Split “ which combines an impact-savvy, dual-density foam layer and a Low Friction Layer between the two, to reduce rotational forces in a crash that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain.” The other speed frames have MIPS Air Node, which actually increases your likelihood of a brain bleed as punishment for not buying the $280 helmet.

We all know the theory: lower tire pressures mean more grip, and higher pressures roll faster. But when it comes to real-world speed, which one really wins? I set out to answer this with 30 timed runs down the same track. ◾ The Experiment Two sets of tire pressures were chosen for my 88kg (194lbs) weight: 25/28 psi (front/rear) for the higher pressures and 18/20 psi (front/rear) for the lower pressures. These pressures maintain a consistent 0.9 front-to-rear ratio, with the high pressures aligning with recommendations such as those from E13 . After three warm-up laps, each tire pressure setup...

Gwin will absolutely get a race entry if he wants one. He has a safe domestic race scene, a good relationship with WB appearing behind the mic for them, and is the closest thing we have to the GOAT in an active racer now that Greg retired. Don't think he's sweating about assembling a team to get into races. Especially if he misses a few rounds like he has the last few seasons.

Two hard pills to swallow. Gwin really played all the wrong hands as it seems. I hope he leave whatever he's been up to and find a spot where he can finish on his own terms. He's one of the true greats and he deserves so much more. Ratboy. It's over before it even started.

Wasn’t having great luck with the shimano trail spds, both Xt and xtr. Switched to Ht and have had no issues. Cleats last longer. Better release.

Love Ohlin's "if ain't broke don't fix it" approach to their forks. That TTX18 cartridge is so good I am glad they didn't change it. No marketing non-sense like MOAR shimz etc. I hope they stay this way and soon enough all my forks will be from them.

The problem is that the current "standard" of just a couple posts in the frame leaves much to be desired in terms of accuracy and convenience. Not to mention it's not an easily replaced part. If someone hamfists the threads on their brake posts then they could be in for an expensive repair. Just because we currently have something doesn't make it "good" and it's completely backwards compatible like UDH. I only see this new standard as a positive. There's also the benefit of (potentially) not needing to realign calipers all the effing time for every minor brake related job...

Exactly right. I’m on a V2 Raaw Madonna and I’m still on the original OEM bearings after 5 seasons with 150+ days per year and some park thrown in. All I do is strip the bike and repack the bearings every winter. I think the combination of great sealing, large bearings and great tolerances are the key.

I think the big question here is why your pivot bearings are dying. 1) bad design/dimensioning of suspension layout or bearings 2) bad/wrong bearings (too shitty quality, too soft material) 3) contamination of water and dirt ingress There are for sure a bunch of frames that suffer from factor 1). There is usually not much that you can do besides buying a new frame. Regarding point 2): here often OE bearings are cheap, meaning they do not have the hardness or tolerances required for the application or are sealed insufficiently. Here one can upgrade to better bearings that offer the...

Brother do you know what a rumour is? If I just tell everyone what brand is developing it or which riders will be running it this season it's not a rumour it's just a statement of fact. Keeping it vague enough for people to guess and put forward some theories as to who it could be is what makes it fun.

i know it's a fine line between relevant discussion about economy and the bike industry in this forum thread and i'm always blown away by how civil everyone is here. i appreciate that! as it's starting to get a bit more general, we have an "off the bike" forum area if you want to talk general global policy, thoughts on immigration etc. - https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/VitalMTB/Off-the-Bike,3 let's keep this one as bike-specific as possible.
