3/27/2025 9:47am It would be spot on if it was a pure xc brake and really light. But seems possibly underwhelming for a trailbike, but now there’s nothing in the lineup between this and mavens. Seems like they should be lighter or stronger

3/27/2025 9:41am some clips and pics of the track via insta. the work they've done should make it rideable no matter the conditions, there is a fresh section that should have a couple lines develop. the gnarly sidehill off-camber before the rock slabs has been groomed out. was bummed to see this as it was a real decider of who had skill, but can also see that in the wet, it was almost too tough for a lot of riders. there is a super hateful compression at the bottom of the highway for anyone carrying speed. and another compression dug in after...

3/20/2025 4:26pm Super Deluxe and Vivid all have quite similar characteristics over the years, when just looking at dyno plots - they don't have wildly different tunes year to year like Fox does. The latest ones are a little lighter in low speed compression so will feel more responsive, which is a pretty common theme from most brands in the last couple of years. The C2 tunes allow you to add more LSC without being as harsh on small bumps as the C1 or earlier shocks did. eg the "hotdog" generation shocks have very low high speed damping and increasing LSC made...

3/19/2025 5:16am Any general observation of how the new vivid characteristics compare to the og SD coil (the one before HBO)? I get along well with mine and don’t have bottoming issues, but curious about the new vivid

3/15/2025 5:04am I have a little note about Leatt grips, the idea of them on paper looked great, they say “maximum vibration damping”. The plastic is cut out and has a material in there which I thought would work great. The grip material itself is pretty stiff. Unfortunately I thought they added more vibration to my bike and bar set compared to OneUp grips or the Diety soft large grip. And in other news, I’m trying the Rimpact TMD vs countershox. My first impression is that Countershox made a bigger change and much easier to install. Total weight is similar, but rimpact...

3/13/2025 4:11pm like @sprungmass said if you you light pressure and keep moving it should be fine - it takes a while to remove material from steel. If it was easy to remove too much they would be cooked in a second on the trail as well

3/13/2025 4:11pm In theory it can but it will be a LOT of work and you'll need to be sitting there for a long time. If you just sit at one spot and apply a lot of pressure it can possible develop a low spot. The idea is to keep moving, use medium to light pressure until your braking surface looks evenly scuffed up. You'll be fine.

3/13/2025 4:16am Does the orbital take off too much surface? I have a plan to try some HS2 rotors I got with DHR EVOs. So they’re already technically a little too thin. I don’t know the providence of the rotors so was thinking I’d try the orbital technique but don’t want to take off enough surface to materially change the overall rotor...

3/7/2025 4:28am I've been rolling like this with the hardtail for a couple seasons with no issues, albeit in shortish travel configurarions (full 27'5" at 140mm, or mullet with a cut down shaft at 125mm-ish) you'd get neumatic top out with most forks anyway, I think the spacers and rubber bumpers are there just for safety, I will avoid to do this in a setup any closer to the maximun allowable travel though. Thats the most linear, better felling fox 36 setup I have ever feel, but I particularly dislike that fork in stock form. I don't think it's recommended but it...

3/6/2025 11:52am It sounds like we have the same trail preferences. I live in Idaho and love fast, rough, and loose trails. Silver bike park, Big Sky, Angle Fire, and Whistler are my favorite places to ride. I'm 6'1", 180lbs with a 34.5" inseam. My legs are long enough I don't have any issue with clearance, but I do use all of the clearance on both mullet or 29er occasionally buzzing the tire on either wheel size. I've been riding strictly 29ers for the past 6yrs and just set up my first mullet DH bike, a Zerode G3 last season. My previous...

3/6/2025 7:58am 6'2" Here and 175lbs. (I feel weight matters in this equation too because of leverage) I honestly adjust to either mx or full 29 setups equally well after a month's worth of riding on them. For a brief period I had a megatower 2 and a nomad 6 so I was able to do back to back comparisons with bikes that were more or less the same intent/design save wheel size. (no i'm not rich or dumb, I bought a nomad 6 while I was waiting for mt1 warranty replacement which SC replaced with an MT2) I was a bit...

3/6/2025 6:34am It's all personal preference. I prefer how the 29er has a more "even" feel due to the BB drop being the same at both axles. Whatever the front wheel does, the rear wheel does the same instead of "doing it's own thing." I'm sure I'm actually faster on a mullet but I personally don't value the whole "you can forget about the rear wheel" aspect that mixed wheel setups bring to the table.

3/5/2025 4:13pm As a 6’2” rider on a Spire I have to say this discussion is stressing me out. Telling myself I don’t have issues leaning the bike and getting it to turn in, but I haven’t ridden a mullet ever.
