100% this, if I am riding with a pack I normally take a shock pump with me and check the pressures at the top of the first climb, give things a chance to warm up. In the Alps last year my rear shock pressure would be about 12psi lower in the cold basement of the apartment than at the top of the mountain on a hot day.

I'm surprised this doesn't get more attention, it indeed makes a "material difference" as you say. I always check pressure immediately before a ride, running a few PSI below my target if I'm starting early, and vise versa in the evenings. Where this could be an issue is if people were running much lower ramp up than what Ohlins suggests (haven't owned one but I believe their table is like 150% of main). So if someone was running 80 psi main and only 90 psi ramp (instead of 120 psi), then attaching a shock pump to the ramp without lowering the main chamber pressure could drop the ramp chamber pressure enough so that the main chamber pressure displaces the ramp piston.

Are there any elite riders / coaches / engineers lurking here who can explain current or changing schools of thought on optimal body positioning? Do you start with body position & balance, then build/adapt the bike from there? I remember Minnaar talking about trying to adapt to the more upright modern position you see from riders like Jackson, Asa, Loris, etc but at a certain point over-elongated wheelbases and additional drag might prevent setups from scaling accordingly for large riders (ex Coulanges/Kolb are more hunched-over). I'm imagining that many many riders (including myself) are very poorly fit into our cockpits...

I'm happy to report Asa is being well compensated, at a level equal to his talent and future. Despite choices aplenty, Asa decided to stay with a team capable of fully taking care of him, but also one whose business dealings have been genuine and transparent. Asa's a bright kid, but to assume he was not properly represented and took advise, especially as one of the most branded athletes in the sport is a bit dramatic. I'm not so sure about that to be honest. Say Asa wanted to go to Commencal for example.. Amaury Pierron would be his teamate, and he's sponsored by Monster.. I don't think RedBull would sign off on that, TBH. Then Asa loses a sponsor that's worth more than the frame mfg that he's riding for..Not gonna happen/impossible deal from Asa's perspective also. If he likes the Framworks bike a lot, it doesn't take too many hypotheticals like that one to force him to stay put.

Reading between the lines here, he may have had to stay on Frameworks, or another RedBull friendly team. The Redbull/Monster energy team association deal has stymeid plenty of Moto racing contracts over the years. Also, big time gear contracts like Fox come into play here also. Matter of Fact, I believe Ken Roczen had to look far and wide for his last team deal with the Redbull/Fox gear combo.

Prime Gwin, years ago in wayyyy better economic times said he's making approx $1m when combining all streams of income. Asa, as good as he is not in the same ballpark commodity wise as peak Gwin. No one is making 1.5m in today's climate IMO.

A few things to consider for those thinking Asa might be getting the short end of the stick. First, Neko is not going to take advantage of Asa; in fact I believe it's the opposite. He's looking out for his overall success, financially and between the tape. Those saying Asa doesn't know what he's doing or that a contract just appeared in a parking lot and he signed it w/o spending time on the details beforehand is insulting to Asa as well as Neko's motives.
