5/2/2025 4:39am Hopefully Asa isn't leaving too much on the table salary wise by staying on a small team. Seems kind of wild that he's signing the paperwork in a parking lot.. Does this guy even have an agent? You have to side with the athlete big time in these situations. As others have said, you never know how long someone can race at a pro level.

5/2/2025 4:39am But mountain biking and professional athletics more broadly is by definition playing a short game of cash. Asa has only 10-15 years to make money after which he has to transition to something else, a prospect many athletes struggle with. Moreover the bike industry as a whole struggling compounds this. This is why if I were in his circle, I would advise him to maximize his earning now and set himself up better in a volatile future.

5/2/2025 4:31am No, my elbows just have a little more flexion in a neutral position. It's as or more effective for pulling (i.e. more lat activation, less bicep activation) and way more effective for pushing the bars (i.e. an extra 60mm of range of motion). And if I'm in an active stance, I'm not trying to support my bodyweight with my triceps — I'm standing on my feet and using my arms to pull and push the bar. I think a lot of folks are trying to weight their hands to increase traction on the front wheel, but it's a mess biomechanically...

5/1/2025 5:39pm Ironically, I've seen plenty of videos of him understeering off a corner using that stem. Wheel flop is really only a factor when riding slowly with sharp turns. It's the tendency for the front end to drop down when turning the wheel relative to the bike. Slacker head angles cause the wheel to flop over since the rotational axis is more angles relative to the ground, causing the front end to drop. When you're riding fast and linking corners that stops being an issue because you're leaning your bike into the turn. Honestly not sure how stack height factors in...

5/1/2025 3:04pm I really doubt Neko would feel comfortable paying him under market too. I think your theory of Neko getting everyone to pay up because of the opportunity at hand is correct.

5/1/2025 12:39pm Stack and HA adjustments seem like the next variable to tackle. Just stumbled on an insta post by the Raise and Reverse stem guy that seems relevant. I don't really understand wheel flop as a characteristic and its relationship with stack and HA, but this is interesting because his point is that tweaking those things you can have a more...

4/30/2025 6:21pm pretty sure the h/a contributed more to beer's observations than the (445mm) rc. to wit: "If you expect a super-slack head angle to erase your mistakes, this isn’t the bike for you"

4/30/2025 1:37pm Beer is also not particularly tall. Most of this discussion on this thread is about more balanced bikes for taller riders, not longer chainstays in a vacuum. Moreover, look at a bunch of his reviews and he like plenty of bikes with that ratio or even more balanced. For example: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/staff-rides-matt-beers-commencal-supreme-… I think you're way overstating your case

4/29/2025 6:02pm Their pre wave alloy? i've owned a set of those 'big bearing' pedals for years and i've probably put my foot on it once. Regardless the answer to flat pedals is always the same.... go and buy clip pedals.

4/22/2025 3:41pm DH casing hard compound rear tyre Light pants with a tiny d3o layer, or even just multiple layers of soft material over the knee to prevent scratches. I'm convinced this can work, despite trying to build my own version which is not very comfortable or protective...

4/22/2025 3:36pm My Kavenz has a 1.8 front center/rear center ratio. I’ve also ridden the same bike set up with a 1.93 ratio. The handling characteristics between the two setups is stark. Not as noticeable when it’s super steep but the 1.8 ratio corners way better. Front wheel grip is massively better in flatter corners. The 1.8 ratio setup is also more forgiving of body position and easier to ride fast. I’m firmly in the long chainstay gang at this point.
