It's been about 8 years since I've been there when I moved away from SoCal, but from what I remember most of the trails outside of the park there were better suited to shorter travel bikes. At the time, there were a few fun trails out of the park that were accessible via a short pedal from the top of...

Nico, ACC, Cedric, Pascal, ALL of the Aussies, Greg.....the 90's had F*CK tons of jrs that went on to be senior assassins. Another cool chart would be to see of the Jrs that crush it as Jrs, and where they go as seniors, because, time has shown very few go on to huge elite success. Are they getting "faster" perhaps, is the amount of them more than ever? perhaps. As for Asa, I sure wish people would just let him be himself and do what he's gonna do. So many people with the rap of "just you wait, he's gonna...

Having seen a lot of peculiar data visualizations in mtb media recently, it's refreshing to see someone present a clear question, use a data set that can shed some light on it, and pick one visualization that reasonably well supports the discussion they're trying to have Smile

I’ve caught my pants on things too, the only difference i can think of is the opening of the shorts getting caught over the seat if you’re super tall, otherwise all the same problems can happen.

If you're catching shorts on your brake levers you have bigger problems.

Every time there's a fast crop of Junior DH racers we get excited, but sometimes it's easy to get carried away and forget to put things in context. To dig a little deeper into this question, we ran some numbers to see how the juniors have stacked up against the elites since 2017, and if there is some kind of trend to be found in this data. Our main measurement here is how much faster the elites went as a percentage of the junior winning time, and then we tracked that metric over time to see what's going on. Here...

Theoretically one could win all semis and dnf all finals but have no uci ranking, and still win the overall (very unlikely I admit). I can't be understanding that correctly! I really hope I misunderstood.

Yeah maybe regional races will grow because of it but even those are getting more out of reach for the average joe too, my local series (DH southeast) is $165 just for an entry fee. Regarding the points thing, why dont DH just have a pro license like MX does, regional and national races pay a certain amount of points and when you gain a set number of points you earn a pro license. You have this license for life and if you can qualify for a world cup whenever you want.

Fox Factory owns Race Face...so adding shoes to the Race Face clothing kinda makes sense.

Regarding Semi-Finals: It needs to go away and should follow the super cross model of Last Chance Qualifier. Every race it should look something like this (for the men, numbers would be smaller for women): -All races at the world cup have to put in a qualy run, which is their seeding for finals. Top 10 in the overall are protected to the finals. -Top 40 racers via qualifying make it to the finals -There is a Last Chance Qualifier run (instead of semi-finals), that is televised since it's high stakes, for those that didn't make the top 40 and...

$2500 “transmissions” would lead me to believe that price isn’t actually the limiting factor, marketability, aesthetics, and what they think will sell likely has more to do with it. How many people do we see riding around on factory level suspension that don’t actually know how to, or ever bother to check suspension sag. Price can’t be the issue

Needle bearings carry a lot of load for their size (the surface area of the race and rolling element contacting each other is high, thus the pressures are low), but there are hardly any needle bearings out there that come as a cartridge, with seals, they don't carry axial loads (deep groove ball bearings hold up surprisingly well in that regard), etc. For specific applications they can be great. In a shock eyelet I'd give them a pass. DU bushings are way too cheap and modern bearing mounts work too well (I'm on my original bearings in my Super Deluxe...

Absolutely. They're horrendous on MTB. What about moto shocks with those lovely spherical bearing top eyelets being the norm? Want to try that one day for sure on MTB.. Seems some companies have tried just not the big playas!
