Trek and QBP just had layoffs (again) today. This is the third time at Trek in the last 18 months and I believe at least the second time at QBP since COVID. I just exited the bike industry myself (started a new job this week!), it’s definitely rough out there!

If i buy the same Specialized twice, but on in a shop, and one shipped to my house and assemble my self. Will i then have one premium bike, and one unpremiun? Now back to economics!

Was watching Sam Pilgrim's new video and noticed during his new bike check that there was something blurred on both wheels. The DT Swiss logo is still visible on the other side of the wheels. Any idea why/what might be blurred?

Will be interesting contrast for Dylan going from what looks like one of the most professional teams to what looks like the most unprofessional. The Pivot DH bike does look pretty sick. If Dylan can put his head down and not get caught up in team drama he should be good.

You're forgetting about the existence of air. World cup DH races don't happen in a vacuum chamber. Wind resistance is more favorable to a person with a larger mass to surface area ratio (generally speaking, the larger riders). Loic Bruni is going to be less affected by wind resistance than Jackson Goldstone. To think about it another way, if they both go skydiving, Loic's terminal velocity is going to be much higher than Jackson's. They won't fall at the same rate, because air exists.

" They should also sign a deal with Insta360, GoPro, etc and mandate that riders have to run a camera while footage is co-owned by EWS. If they wanted to do near real time coverage they could have memory cards at each stage finish line to swap out of the top 20 riders so they could produce something quickly. Add...

Enduro used to be seen as the "just like us riding" discipline, athletes riding around on rad trails, socializing, then ripping the downhill. They had bikes like us. Now, to compete, even as an amateur, requires an enduro bike - which after years of marketing/media hype telling everyone they need one, most have discovered enduro bikes are great at very fast and steep trail, and are compromised everywhere else. The enduro courses are now designed to the edge of the enduro bike capability and the pro athlete's capability - near DH tracks. The "riding just like us" connection is broken...

So... showing up to a DH race in a speed skiing suit would actually be a return to the sport's roots?

SPD has been really widely copied and is the crab of clicky pedals. But in any case, a patent tells half the story (depending on the exact nature of it). I guess the expired patent doesn't cover all the shape details of the cleat, how to forge (ha) them, how to wind the springs, etc. That's something you have to find out on your own unless you're given the keys to the kingdom. And if you're doing something from scratch, it makes sense to take inspiration from something, but not copy it exactly. That and the bulge holding the mechanism...

Any system that needs to be bled every couple of rides is either broken or was not properly bled to start, independent of the type of fluid.

I’m guessing when that team was formed a couple years ago, Dak was the highest paid out of those three guys. Ronan was just starting to have results, but very inconsistent, and pinky was first year elite. Both those guys probably got a huge pay bump this year, deservedly. They probably couldn’t afford 3 top 10-ish salaries, so the move to another first year elite, with a ton of potential, at a much lower cost, makes sense. Dak wasn’t gonna take a pay cut, they probably knew that, so made sense for everyone to move on. Interested to see the...

"I am not one to dis someone". You can't say "no offence but" before offending someone, especially if you don't/can't/haven't done better. Public speaking (especially to a huge audience) would be very intimidating. Just saying
