Funnily enough I didn’t think to look at my shoe. It’s quite obvious now though. I ride left foot forward and I guess I twist my heel into the crank arm a lot. No signs of wear on the other side. Lots of sand in the dirt where I live too and it creates a perfect sandpaper when damp. I already ordered another set, don’t think it’s a defect, just neglect. Race Race deserve credit for being one of the few original parts on my bike prior to death by sandpaper shoe though

It doesn't have to be high, could be and is most likely when the cranks are level. If he rides left foot forwards while descending steeper terrain, that part of the crank will be lower than the pedal and would be right around the point of the heel where it moves up and down as you ride over rough terrain.

Seems we have our first pinkbike pot stirrer. You can leave that shit at the door sir. The only liberal or conservative conversation in the bike forum here is on the topic of how much Sram butter to use.

That's Austin from Rooted MTB, he thinks very highly of Aaron Gwin and thinks he is very fast at racing downhill bikes.

Agree, keep the politics and American outrage at one another over on Pinkbike comments. I like Vital because it doesn't have all that bullshit. Hopefully it stays that way.

Awesome, I’m glad to know someone saw me goon it up on the live feed! I hadn’t raced for seven years so it was great to hear the start gate beeps in person again. Despite forgetting how to race and getting smoked I’m inspired to attend the Big Bear national in September and make use of that expensive license. DH racing at home is at a much higher level nowadays and was great to see!

"upvote/downvote count affects sort order" Please never. Just adds to the mob / popularity rule that ruins all social media. Why bother to sift through the bottom 90 of 100 comments (On Vital? That might not be the record but it would be close.), there not "popular".

Oh, I dont know. Motorsports spec's parts in order to control this. I am not sure that that is feasible. Perhaps the way will be to stop creating boring, straight line tracks and start introducing rocks, roots, and turns into the runs. Self preservation will lead to slightly saner riding. Honestly, the DH tracks over the last couple of years, for the most part, have been really boring.

I have been on Vital since day one (Schladming WC weekend) and will continue to be on here reading and watching more than on Pinkbike.

back to racing and sewing circles, gwin (who was in Montana when we recorded his latest Inside Line podcast) is registered as a Montana resident on the national champs results sheet instead of the familiar temecula listing

Agreed man. I don't think it's the bike. Neko isn't far off his usual results. A big part of winning in DH is having your head in the right place. Dak is on fire at the moment and he is riding with wicked confidence. Gwin is still trying to get his mojo back after the bad run of injuries. Listen to the podcast he did with Spomer. He was talking about taking safe lines in a world cup race. That's not going to win it. I think he'll be back winning when he gets his confidence back.

The weight for me is not even noticeable. It's a non issue basically. I raced mx so I personally like a bit more weight as I ride an emtb. The added few pounds makes it less sketchy on descents. It makes the suspension work a bit more underneath you. Not jumping all over the place. Fwiw...I have a Trek Rail 9.7. Carbon bike...Bosch g4 motor...29r. Full suspension Emtbs are the best thing to happen in this sport in 20 years. As far as emtbs causing erosion...that is a big crock of shit. Like ebikes just spin the back tire and...
