Within reason but you launch a full field of mens and womens juniors plus a full field of mens and womens pros 3 or 4 times (practice, timed practice, qualifying, race run) down the same course, you are not going to be able to eliminate moving terrain. ... more »

You cannot eliminate rocks from a place like Snowshoe. THey are a part of the package. I do agree with chicken lines/ bypasses being available but they also need to be technical. If a bypass allows a retention of speed that the original line does not, ... more »

No one WANTS dangerous races but if we are honest, the local DH leagues/ series tracks are more technically challenging then the WC UCI tracks. The DHSE DH track at Snowshoe was an absolute beast and would make the UCI nervous yet, people rode it and ... more »

Easy answer: All sports. I have also played and watched soccer all of my life. The teams that win championships are the ones that can play and perform in all of the different leagues and stay healthy. People get hurt. It sucks but you are blasting down ... more »

I get that but cannot possibly agree. If DH is the "F1" of bike racing, and you know that a relatively flat (by typical track standards) but varied terrain track is crushing rims, chains, tires, etc..., it should push the manufacturers to step up and ... more »

This is the second time in a row that Snowshoe and the terrain has served up an unpredictable race. If Snowshoe does not become a permanent stop, the UCI is being (per usual) stupid.

Jack is indeed. Spoke to him when we were both out shooting the DHSE race at Snowshoe. Looking forward to all of the photos.

The light pockets in the woods there are everywhere. The event photos should be amazing.

Why the hell would you need a bottle opener? If you can't open a bottle with the Allen keys, just walk home after you give the bike to a real drinker.

That is the jounce bumper. The foam is actually engineered to offer a certain spring rate. If it is riding that high, I would guess that it might have been an integral part of the suspension tuning.

This is dumb. They are moving at this point in the track. Everyone will go around it. Remember the opening jump at the last one? They made such a big deal out of an opening feature for the track and then everyone skipped it. Same will happen here. This ... more »

No doubt there will be some drag. I have read that the gears seat in and the drag becomes less noticeable. I have rebuilt a few car transmissions before. The gears and synchros are always very tight and sharp at first but then wear, while still remaining ... more »

For gravity racing, the gearbox always will be the future. At least that is my opinion. Weight lower down. Less unsprung weight. The ability to run a belt (how many broken chains do we see per event ruining peoples run?). Crank to a gear in anticipation ... more »

Looks like an old Corsair or Commencal frame/ linkage design.

Also, can we ban the rock on hand sign?

Added reply in a thread Re: Spoomer ca 2017. Anyone gone from 29er back to 27.5? 8/9/2021 1:14 PM

It all depends upon how you ride. In my area, the Mid Atlantic (Va, Md, WV), we dont really have burmed out smooth pedaling single track or hardpack. 29 was nice. It did what I needed. The 27.5 smashes over rocks, roots, and more importantly, pushes ... more »
