derelict Added a comment about press release Hellion Bikes Lands in Arkansas
8/16/2021 1:30pm Looks like an old Corsair or Commencal frame/ linkage design. Also, can we ban the rock on hand sign?

8/15/2021 12:42pm Hey Guys, another update. Austin was one of the first people I called after getting hurt. We're buddies and talk/ride together fairly regularly. I let him know what was up and wanted to confirm that he was staying in Europe for the next month like I thought he was. He's racing Maribor this weekend and isn't planning on coming back home until after the WC in Switzerland next month either way. That was good news as he's easily ready to go if I pull out. I also contacted USAC to make sure they get him everything he needs to compete...

8/12/2021 9:08am I'll just flat ask the question... With how close WCs are to Maribor, at what point does Gwin give his spot up? If he can't race this weekend, but somehow can be at full strength at WCs, more power to him. Love to see him crush it. However, that seems unlikely, no? ...a hobbled Gwin is not exactly in the spirit of the "US team". Isn't it selfish? Especially with up and comers waiting in the wings. Tough situation, but with COVID, Europe, mental prep etc. its not something where he should drag his feet imo. Unless its some weird...

8/12/2021 9:08am I think the proper thing to do in this instance, is to put Austin Dooley back on the team. This isn’t going to be Gwin’s year; do the right thing, and remove yourself from the team. Come back healthy next year, and show us what you got.

derelict Added a reply to Re: Spoomer ca 2017. Anyone gone from 29er back to 27.5?
8/9/2021 1:14pm It all depends upon how you ride. In my area, the Mid Atlantic (Va, Md, WV), we dont really have burmed out smooth pedaling single track or hardpack. 29 was nice. It did what I needed. The 27.5 smashes over rocks, roots, and more importantly, pushes and floats through mud. I simply do not get bogged down. Once moving, I...

8/9/2021 10:55am Kind of. I went from 29 to 27.5x2.8.

8/9/2021 4:27am Gwin imo should of remained out. Hes not going to place well and he had the last almost 15 years to get a rainbow jersey. No disrespect but the jig is up.

8/9/2021 4:27am This is terrible. I can't imagine having your dream seemingly come true, and then having the rug pulled out from under you. Austin, if you're reading this, keep your head up. You're only getting faster, and you'll soon be a mainstay on this team. Regarding Gwin's claims, are they true and did USAC simply accidentally break someone's heart, or is his claim that petitioning isn't necessary untrue? Also, does USAC have any mechanism that allows them to petition for an additional spot? If so, they owe it to Austin to try that route.

8/6/2021 9:28am No doubt. I was out there shooting the DHSE race and everything was totally fine. Granted, that is a smaller crew but there were a lot of riders out. The room rates are already nuts. Could be a long day trip...

8/6/2021 8:53am @sspomer I was going to make the trip out there to shoot as a spectator. Are you getting the feeling like that would be a wasted effort?

8/6/2021 8:51am This is a fact of life now. You are not going to be able to slam schedules anymore. 2022 schedules will have to adapt to allow more space between races.

8/6/2021 8:48am Yup, young athletes, of any sport, cannot improve unless they face world class competition. This is how it is done. Besides, based upon the way Gwin was talking on the podcast, he does not really seem to interested in training up.

8/6/2021 8:46am Maybe he stepped aside to let the up and comers have a chance instead of going to a race he doesn't feel ready for or something? My best guess. On a side note, stoked to see the local kid, Dylan Maples, get picked for the junior squad. Dumb fast and a super nice dude to boot.

7/17/2021 5:15am I agree with most things. Spec parts might result in "rowdy" riding but once you realize that you cannot brute force your way through things, you are forced to adapt. You can see that when a race league spec's a tire manufacturer, or a compound change. You have those that try to force it and they blow corners and crash...

7/15/2021 5:11am Oh, I dont know. Motorsports spec's parts in order to control this. I am not sure that that is feasible. Perhaps the way will be to stop creating boring, straight line tracks and start introducing rocks, roots, and turns into the runs. Self preservation will lead to slightly saner riding. Honestly, the DH tracks over the last couple of years...
