Not defending it but he was able to pedal to the top, no uplift. Try that on a traditional DH is the point.

I would like to know this answer as well! ^ I don't enjoy how much throw there is until pad contact and it forces me to run my levers farther out than I would prefer.

65° should be seen as 'about average' for any mtb in 2020. You wait, in 2022 the Reactor Mk2 will have this 'revolutionary' new geometry. Face, palm... I've actually got a Vitus Mythique and it's great now I fitted a Superstar -2° angle set. At least you used a 44/56mm head tube, so it's a simple fit

Yet another brand new high end bike that requires an angle set straight out of the box. Why are we still obsessed with near-vertical head angles? It's 2020, I thought we'd been through this? To be clear: 66.8° is not, has never been, and will never be what should be considered "slack" or even close to.

The best upgrade for my MTB was me. upskilled in terms of doing my own maintenance: bike lasted longer, and performed better for longer. upskilled in riding skill: all that money spent on suspension and tyres didn't mean jack until i learnt to ride the shoulder knobs off, and not crash. Best upgrade Ever.

Nothing ruins your ride like brake fade. Pedaling up, getting amped for the descent and then having your brakes fade on the way down is such a downer

Best upgrade? The rider: - Lose some weight - Improve your power output - Improve your endurance - Improve your mobility - Improve your skills (pick 1-2 during this downtime and see how you can focus on them. - Learn more about your bike - experiment with different tyre pressures, suspension pressures and settings, more sag, less sag etc. As mentioned above, try a slightly different saddle position (nose down, a couple of mm forward etc) I know that the greatest thing holding back my riding is me!

Not really a bike part, but nothing replaces replaces actually knowing how to ride -- as in working with a GOOD riding coach. Just ride more, right? You'll figure it out? Check out pro motocross and notice how ALL the top 250 riders have riding coaches. Most of the top 450 guys have worked with riding coaches too. Unfortunately working with a coach often gets a bad rap cause everybody and their brother (and sister!!) is a "certified mtb coach" these days and a bunch of organizations hand out certifications to anyone that is willing to schelp out a couple...

IDK man. That is an interesting question. Coming from DH and DH-Duro, and having ridden several different bikes and components my honest opinion is the brakes. I feel like I can make most suspension products feel good with some tuning. Tires and inserts make a huge difference but I will sometimes run my tires till they are near balding. All the components make small differences. To me though, if i jump on a bike with Guide Rs, I will ride much more hesitantly compared to my new TRP evos or even my old saints that would have inconsistent lever pull...

For all but elite riders? Good quality coaching. Making positive changes to your riding basics and squishing bad habits will do far more to help you down every trail than any bike part could. The better a bike you already own, the more true this becomes. Never mind fancy tires, faster hubs or shock tunes, the difference between good and bad body position blows all that out of the water. The only caveat is the upgrade is only as good as the coach.

New tires, brake pads and/or rotors, or a new seat if the current one is not comfortable for 1hr + rides. Brakes are the things I am most particular about and new pads can completely and positively change the feel of your bike. A good set of Galfer metallic pads and rotors makes your bike stop a lot harder/faster and...

The races have less than 10,000 entrants between all disciplines. They see more than 75,000 additional spectators. I’m suggesting that they hold the races as scheduled, but postpone the trade show where people are clamoring over each other for free stickers and funnel cake

Don't forget Charlie's 4th at Maribor and Gwin's 5th at Leogang! Also Amaury's run at Les Gets was one of the best I've ever seen, the left hander he jumped into alsmost missing the rut in the top half was just insane (along with every other corner on the hill). It was hands down the most French race run ever given Bastille day, being in France, and being so, so commited.

They are all combined times, it's just that stage one was the longest, between 1.5 and 2.5 times further distance than the other stages.

Kiran MacKinnon (works for SC) using the same idea: shorter reach, backwards buzzworks and longer stays. He and I talked about it at Tamarack and he thinks it's all relation of body weight/position to BB. he also thinks longer reach is yanking riders too far forward these days. when the front end drops, their arms get straightened more than they should. it's all really interesting. kiran's bike from tamarack - https://www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/PIT-BITS-Tamarack-Pro-GRT-NW-C…

477mm rear end, and interestingly they got rid of the Buzzworks headset to make the front end 8mm shorter. All my life I've heard how short chainstays corner better, but Greg seems to be doing fine on the limousine. I hope all the engineers at SC talk to each other, because the 2019 Nomad still has 430mm chainstays in Large and XL.
