Kiran MacKinnon (works for SC) using the same idea: shorter reach, backwards buzzworks and longer stays. He and I talked about it at Tamarack and he thinks it's all relation of body weight/position to BB. he also thinks longer reach is yanking riders too far forward these days. when the front end drops, their arms get straightened more than they should. it's all really interesting. kiran's bike from tamarack - https://www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/PIT-BITS-Tamarack-Pro-GRT-NW-C…

477mm rear end, and interestingly they got rid of the Buzzworks headset to make the front end 8mm shorter. All my life I've heard how short chainstays corner better, but Greg seems to be doing fine on the limousine. I hope all the engineers at SC talk to each other, because the 2019 Nomad still has 430mm chainstays in Large and XL.

I'm disappointed to see the large inboard bearing, you'll end up standing on it at some point in a race run and it will keep your shoes from full pin penetration. My favorite part of the old pedals was the uncompromising grip (with the longer than standard pins) no matter where your foot was placed and the uninterrupted platform was the main reason for that. The lack of a raised inboard bearing on the old pedal essentially afforded me an extra and necessary 10ish mm of usable platform for my larger than average foot wearing 5.10 Impact shoes. What is...

Don't be a dick. This is a good thing, a rider can race every discipline on a short travel 29er now.

Not a rumor, but very relevant: UCI will return to 2017 start order regulations for 2019!

they already qualified in their home countries. Thats all the qualification that is needed. No need to have another round of qualifiers at Worlds. No reason to cut a small handful of riders out. Just plain sucks for everyone.

What is different this year is riders have to qualify. Not many seem to this know as it’s not been well communicated. Sad really. For some small nations, You do what you have to to make the team, your one chance on a world stage you’ve earned and your week may be over after Friday qualifiers - having to sit the racing out two days later. Not sure what the point of the rule is or why the change but I’d say a bit of a downer for sure.

take this with a grain of salt, but the only unconfirmed reason i've heard was that if an overall could have been clinched via qualifying points, it would make the finals race (webcast) less exciting. was also told other sports do this. still seems weird to me.

I bought a bike after not owning one for several years specifically for this race, I new this was coming but I'm bummed. The hill at Purgatory has so much potential and the WC course is the reason I moved to Durango, hopefully they can get a trail to show off the terrain before the end of the summer. I'll...

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but instead of busting out the excavator, how about just cutting some sweet natural lines through the trees & using the awesome natural terrain that MSA is legendary for? Either way, MSA is one the best venues of the season and it's going to be a sick race!

natural trails that only required a minimal amount of clearing and grooming are the way to go. all my favorite trails are natural and raw no bike park crap
