I’ve got two questions for all you Shimano XT users: - What persistent issues have you experienced in the past? - What aspects of the brakes have you enjoyed? I’ve been comparing the new XT 4-piston brakes (M8200) against the previous XT 4-piston brakes (M8100). There is a lot of similarities between the two, which begs the question, “should you buy the new brakes if you're happily riding the previous gen?” That’s what I’m hoping to figure out as part of this review. I'm open to any suggestions or things people want answered!

This is exactly what I was telling, then shouting, then screaming, then giving up talking about to pro-tariff folks: The quest to extract every cent of value from every nook and cranny it was hiding in ultimately lead to offshoring every single thing that could possibly be offshored...in the 90s and early 2000s. We've had 20+ years of NO real development in that area and any development that happened was then immediately offshored to do it at a lower cost. In doing that, we've been hiring and giving on-the-job experience to anyone in another country who was willing to eat...

First, let's define "power" so we are both talking about the same thing. All the high-end brakes (and many others) can generate enough braking force to lock up both wheels in any situation - the question is how hard you have to pull on the lever to get there. When people refer to a "powerful" brake, it usually means there is a big difference between finger force and braking force at the wheel. In other words, if you can generate the same stopping power at the wheel with less finger force, the brake is more "powerful". The TR4 is in...

Testing is ongoing....having a ball...such good fun...the Kenevo is currently running the Fox40 27.5 wheel in the full 200mm travel with a Vorsprung smashpot coil conversion which is superbly smooth and buttery...this along with the link secondary suspension gives 255mm of next level overall compliance and capability....soooo confidence inspiring and good fun. Data collection is a V3 Pro BYB telemetry system which is superb....a really capable bit of kit which I am still learning. A quick look at some data above....this is a single event hitting a very large bump at around 44kph.....I have three travel sensors on the front...

The only other brand that comes to mind was Iron Horse in 2008 but it was not even close. Remember, it was the era of prime Sam Hill and that year he was 2nd overall and 3rd in the world champs (legendary Val di Sole run when he crashed in the second to last corner)

V+R Racing is just two mere peasants (well, a nurse and a medical device engineer). When we started out in 2019 the two of us were just buying DH bikes for junior riders who needed them. Many seasons and many riders later, we had two world cup DH juniors in '25 with one finishing second overall and the other finishing 10th overall. We obviously can't afford our own team, but we can still be a hat/helmet sponsor. I'm still driving my 16 year old car - it just comes down to priorities for us. And we're proof it doesn't have...

It's a clever idea, but I take a little bit of issue with the claim of it being "the only air spring capable of duplicating a coil fork spring rate from the vary beginning to the end" when the Vorsprung Secus has been around for 5 years The secus needed to be outside the fork because of the limited air volume inside, so I guess the lower runt uses very low pressures and the negative coil spring is there to regain some kind of compliance after moving the piston upwards and reducing the negative spring volume. The positive chamber looks...

I thought it was very brave of Ebruner to be vulnerable and share how many bikes he and his wife have. It can be tough to come clean. We’re all active or recovering bikes addicts here, and this is supposed to be a supportive community for recovery. Or enabling rationalizations and fostering codependency, if that’s what you’re looking for. Both, really. JUDGEMENT FREE SPACE
