Does that mean Gwin no longer has a stake in Crestline or that Crestline is no longer making DH bikes (acknowledging they were already super limited) and just focusing on e-bikes? Will Gwin be training on Specialized e-bikes?

Yep, that's been my experience too, the Hope braided lines do nothing for lever feel, the external steel braiding is just there for additional protection. Additionally, installing them is a huge faff, the steel braiding splits open real easy and then getting it all into the olive is a royal pain. They are also thicker and thus may not play nice will every frame out there in regards to cable ports and internal guide hoses. TL/DR "these are not the hoses you are looking for." I'd be very intrigued by running HEL lines on other brakes to see what difference...

Patrice Afflatet owns AP Sports Com which has managed the "Scott Factory DH Team" for over 7 years. Traditionally it leaned towards a more French line up and staff which Dean Lucas found difficult being the token English speaker, however that was years ago and the team now has a more global roster. Don't disregard the affect that Bucko (Ben Walker one of the unsung heroes of the mtb world who is well overdue for a podcast interview) has on everything gravity for Scott.

Scott is now a full team of people's champs. I'm rooting for every single one of their riders to get a great result.

His contributions to the B-Practice podcast are probably a big reason that Vital favors him (Just like people here love Jesse M. because he actually posts in the forum periodically). The Fillmore valve is quite nice as you can take it apart pretty quickly to clean the gunk out. Tend to do it a couple of times a year.

Damper fluid degrades from use and heat so is less of an issue sitting around - I don't know figures but I'm sure its fine for years sitting in a bottle. As it breaks down there is a negligible change in damping, but its the reduced lubricity or build up of particles from use that are a problem for the damper. Its the nitrile and polyurethane seals that have a limited shelf life. - Nitrile reacts with oxygen (the dust wipers are most susceptible to that, but there is still oxygen in the air spring and lowers) and they both...

I generally recommend everyone has a full overhaul once a year - if you ride a ton then also do a lowers service at 6 months, and that covers 99% of people. You can't tell when a damper NEEDS a service, only when it should have been serviced about 6 months ago. And catastrophic failures always come at the worst time - right before or during a big ride/race/holiday Damper oil breaks down and starts to wear out parts like the inside of the damper tube - and usually feel fine right up until the point they have done major...
