One off test in Korea last year and back to the ol' tried and true, hey? I didn't love the Korea track, but wish there were some more new options outside of Europe and NA.

That said, stoked that Whistler is closing things out, though.

Can't remember if it was on Vital with Dak or Downtime or Pinkbike, but the rumor was that they were doing variable pricing for resorts to host (some resorts were getting better pricing than others), and SK asked for reduced pricing, was refused, and then backed out of hosting again.

It’s only a week later. Historically the weather hasn’t been as bad as people think. Of course that just means the one day of rain will be right before the race againIMG 1763.jpeg?VersionId=vI

Little birdie told me the SK promoter embazzled money. Government froze payments until investigation is complete. Warner Bros. and even some racers are still awaiting their bag…

rumors are there could be additional races dropped into the existing calendar (hypothetically a DH in the SLC area and XC in vancouver area, making the last two rounds doubles). let's hope so!

It’s less expensive for the Euro venues to host. There are some outside of EU production fees apparently

It makes me sad to see such gate keeping from the rest of the world by the UCI. It would be interesting to see them expand a wee bit into the southern hemisphere to allow some of the amazing locals that may not have as much support be able to shine.  Is there a fear of some privateer coming out on top without all the bells and whistles? If that it, that is very very sad.

Heard similar. The problem is Alterra, who owns DV/solitude, had a tough year with a bad winter and are going to be conservative financially right now. That said, all the western ski resorts will make their $ and set projections in the next 30-45 days. Good start to the winter here and a few big storms in November can turn that around.

Does that mean Les Gets gets a Word Cup in June (crazy early, is Portes Du Soleil even open then?) and World Champs in August?

7 months and 26 days from Lake Placid to the first round next year is bonkers.

That... kinda sucks.  I mean we get two races on the same track separated by a couple of months.  As much as I love Les Gets and wish prosperity to the area in general, it looks like this is an emergency solution to some other host declining the event?

I think the promise is there will be a new track for one of the Les Gets races.

Will that happen? Hard to say. LOTS of promises seem to be easily broken when it comes to anything/everything the UCI touches.

Referring to the locals partying after the race?
Or the actual violent riots destroying Paris currently by a certain group of young, masked males?

I can't be the only one thinking this schedule gives an opportunity to the US Pro DH series to really grow into their own and attract talent.

Was some potential on that track, was great for us non EU / Americans to have a race closer to home to get to experience in person.

Would be great if there was a rule that 30% or more of the track had to be different each year for these repeat rounds.

The rumour of two races in Les Gets has been floating around since August. They would have had the provision for the annual world cup bid budgeted separately to the world champs, so I don't see how this could be a last minute decision. Not saying that it doesn't make sense, because it doesn't make sense.

All this talk of expanding the calendar, but the world cup circuit is now starting to resemble that of enduro. I've started counting down the days until the end of the contract with these shysters.

That's a negative on both "rumors." Uncle Cliffy is closer than Sasksier, though.

Does anyone actually know the costs for hosting a UCI DH race? I feel like if the process was more transparent around the hosting process it would be easier to get races in the US. It would also allow resorts to then bid to UCI on a fee that works because, obviously, the current structure doesn't work.

Without any traction on US race sites you don't get enough time to optimize your process and build up a "habit" with attendance that you can then translate into better and more durable sponsorship.
