After running Trickstuff Maximas for nearly 4 seasons, I decided to not carry them over and sell them off with my complete bike. The way they were sold and what happened to their Germany HQ didn't sit well with me so it was time to move on. Tried to get a set of Trinity again but kept sleeping on the launches so I gave up.
I ended up getting a set of Hope GR4s and did a 3200M day of descending on my local trails as the first ride. I am pretty blown away by them honestly. For those wondering, they do not have the outright power of the Maximas but it is more than enough for my 160lb riding weight. I find that being able to run the lever closer to the bar without sacrificing bite point feel is a big plus over the Maxima so these added adjustments are a welcome addition. The way the power comes on the GR4s is very similar to the Maxima as well. The "squish" after bite is similar but much less squishy compared to the Maxima especially at my preferred lever to grip distance. Also no squeaking and noise whatsoever paired with HS2 rotors! phew. Build quality is also top notch.
Apparently the bleed process was a pain in the ass and I am glad my shop did it for me. I usually work on my own stuff but time has been a bit of an issue lately. So far pretty stoked and can't wait to put some more miles on it

I got a chance to ride the new trp dhr evo pro's on a rental tr11 this last week in the bike park. I had a set of the original DHR Evos and like many things about them that most people mention: light lever action, appearance, overall power and modulation, but struggled with them overall. I tried all manners of mods to them and pad/rotor combinations and ultimately they were not for me.
The new Evo Pro's however were fantastic. Same light lever feel/throw, good lever ergonomics out of the box and do not require a freedom coast, or oak lever upgrade. Power seemed more than adequate and accessible. The biggest improvement is the way that the power came on snappier and with a similar light lever feel, but a more obvious engagement point. The new adjustment methods in the lever assembly allowed me to get the bite point exactly where i wanted in the lever throw and balance the dead stroke vs max power generation point effectively... something I was not able to achieve on the Evo's.
There was a slight bit of lever pump out, maybe 2-3mm's as they would heat up... likely something that could be remedied with a piston massage and a bleed. I did struggle a bit at first just accidentally dragging the brakes by resting my finger on them... something that I think just comes from maven usage where there is a few mm of throw before things start happening.
All in all, I was quite happy with the evo pros in a way that I was not with the evo's.

After installing I have a lighter lever feel now with the rear brake than the front which still has the prior line. Something is different between these lines. Will measure the ID and compare the inner liner in the next few days. Makes me wonder if hope has a specific hose compared to the regular Goodrich lines. Compared again to my older Goodrich lines that you used to get through BTI as a “upgrade kit” and they for sure are as soft and flexible as the Radic lines, I just ordered the smoke tinted kit when I installed them back in 2015 ish…

I do agree the differences you find are the same in my experience, the raw Goodrige looks the best, but imo is pure garbage, splits incredibly easy making it a pita to work on, and, it saws through everything if not perfectly held in place, so just a pain, the other Goodrige options are too thick for most frames.
IMO the Hope option is the best, great feel, easy to work on, looks good, stiff, doesn’t kink easily like their Kevlar option which feels 💩 and kinks incredibly easy, there the Kevlar Goodrige is WAY better, or Shimano 59 something too nice and stiff

But the Radic and branded goodridge lines seem identical with the hope being quite different. Either way I couldn’t care less who makes it at the end of the day, but I do like the feel of the hope line when directly comparing it to the Radic “Goodridge” line.

At some point I will as trying to find some declared pressure numbers for the hope braided lines with 0 luck, whereas the Goodridge are known to be 1360 bar and the Kevlar goodridge 850bar

The older sets of brakes i own with clear braid always discolors and stains eventually.
On a few sets (Mono4 & Mono6 ) i have peeled it off and run raw stainless like the original Shimano XT 4 piston.
Gawd help you if your routing isn't perfect and you saw through your fork stanchion or HT though.
Running it internally could be a hidden death sentence for your frame too without foam tube.
