I feel bad that I don't know the difference between Bode Burke and Bodhi Kuhn.

Looking them up now.

Something I've been wondering for quite some time: Is there any specific reason why Vital pretty much doesn't cover any XC races (- or XC topics in general) at all? Are the editors/contributors just not interested in XC?

They've mentioned it on the podcast.. The staff, and a lot of the audience here, are more interested in the trail, enduro, and DH side of things..

That being said, if you bright up XC in race talk, I'm sure some people will chime in..

How did wyn crash?

Someone pulled out in front of him in practice. I believe at the step-down jump. Hopefully he wasn't the cause of the helicopter evacuation.

I think people on insta mentioned it was Lou. Hope she's alright.

I think he was using that as a hypothetical.

A more relevant question would be how old is my gray matter?

Healing vibes to Lou Ferguson who took a nasty fall during the first training session at the South Korea World Cup. She's in hospital with broken ribs and "stable vertebrae fractures". It's extra unfortunate that the jump in question was actually closed for racing later. Message from the team below:

------------------------

"During the opening practice session, Lou suffered a heavy crash on the big jump at the top of the track. After being one of the first riders to attempt the feature, Lou realised she lacked the necessary speed on the approach. She cased the landing and was bucked, resulting in a high-impact fall.

True to form, Lou is reportedly in good spirits and more concerned about the team’s performance and morale than her own recovery. The team wishes her a focused and steady rehabilitation.

Heal up, Lou."

Healing vibes for sure. The Raw footage of people sending that thing had me concerned. Except for maybe Goldstone, I didn’t see anyone make it look clean.

What a race though! No spoilers, but Amaury…🤯

Top 5 Elite women in the standings after Korea:

  1. Höll - 216 points
  2. Scarsi - 190
  3. Harnden - 175
  4. Nicole - 165
  5. Roa Sanchez - 150

Top 5 Elite men:

  1. Vermette - 250
  2. Bruni - 180
  3. Pierron - 180
  4. Vergier - 150
  5. Pontvianne - 132

Top 5 teams:

  1. Commençal Riding Addiction -120
  2. Commençal Schwalbe - 87
  3. Frameworks - 57
  4. M-S Racing - 55
  5. Canyon DH - 53

Notes:

  • Privateer Antoine Rogge is 18th in points. He also finished 18th in Q1 as well as in the Final. Kind of amazing how that works. (I've always rooted for him since he won the Privateer award from Wyn a few years ago racing on a bike Loic Bruni gave him after Antoine's bike was stolen.)
  • Tilly Boadle qualified 3rd, finished 3rd in the Final, and is now 3rd in the points standings. (When I first saw her name I thought it would be great for a character in an English novel.)
  • Riders from USA won 2 of the 4 races. I have no idea when (if ever) that last happened.
  • Jackson Goldstone is 26th in points. I'll go out on a limb and predict he'll be at least in the top 10 two races from now. He was having a great run before he went down.
  • Editorial: Amaury Pierron's 3rd place finish is right up there on the list of truly amazing things I've seen in a downhill race.
  • No points for qualifying in Juniors, so the points standings are the same as the race results.
  • If I made any errors on the numbers above, let me know and I'll edit this comment to correct them.

I’ve been on the “give them time to figure it out” train regarding the broadcast commentary but last nights race was painful. We’re 3 seasons in so there’s really no excuse. Having Neko in the booth was a band aid solution at best.

I can’t help but wonder why they haven’t addressed this? Does nobody want the job? I know this is a long shot but imagine having wyn and ed masters in the booth who know the riders personally and have both charisma and race experience.

so when did they change the race points value this year? 200 for elite winner instead of 250 (last year)? currently prepping fantasy results.

Wyn broke himself off when he had to hit the eject button off the step down to avoid landing on hard tail guy during practice.  Same guy then proceeds to almost screw up Asa's qually run.

Lifetime ban for hard tail guy!

I wonder if there's an error in their points in the standings tables for this race. I downloaded their 2026 rules (effective 1/1/2026) just last week and Section 4.11.020 shows no change to the points scale: 1st is 250 points, 2nd is 210, etc., same as prior years.

[Edit: I just checked again on their web site and the rules posted there are still the same as the ones I downloaded earlier. You can view the rules here .]

series standings and race PDFs show 200+50 for Asa (race + q1 points) or 200 (race) with new scales for both Elite Men and Women, so doesn't seem like an error. we used this scale for fantasy since it's their official results.

The racing deserved so much better.

Since Ronan is currently injured why not invite him  to commentate using his ratboy impression.  Hell invite ratboy too.  Nobody would understand much but it would still be an improvement.

I don't think that's necessary, but I do hope he's fulfilled his dream of entering a world cup on a hardtail and returns to anonymity.

You must have missed the world champs and olympics, that guy sounds like he's having a stroke whenever he commentates.

The commentators should know if a feature like a big jump is closed of for safety reasons. As the jump was closed of a day earlier. There is a lack of present representation in the commentators boot.

The WBD commentary is now recorded for all the races in a UK studio due to “budget cuts”…

So, don’t expect it to get any better, or to hear any riders in the booth until 2030?
