I don't think I;ve ever seen a shock that was killed by excessive heating - the Polyurethane o-rings the Fox often use in the damper sealhead are only rated to 80 degrees C, so if they were exceeding that there would be major problems. I do sometimes see scorching on those, where it looks like the very surface of the shaft got really high but I doubt the entire shock gets overheated in that case either. Like @CascadeComponents said we would know if overheating was a problem, since anything over about 60 degrees becomes a burn hazard if you touch it for too long (this is a design factor in things like laptops) and that just doesn't happen, considering how close they are to your legs!

Yup but energy and heat aren't the same thing - a small alloy bolt only needs a small amount of energy to raise its temperature while a comparatively large shock needs far more energy to heat it to the same amount. Point a heat gun at a shock bolt for 5 seconds then pick it up - it will probably be too hot to handle, but do that to a shock and it will be barely any warmer than before, even though received the same amount energy (probably not quite because surface area but you get the point).
I think the reason I mentioned it was with the Scott specifically I have worked on those bikes and found the fit of the bushings at the trunnion mount crazy tight so it was a possibility, unlike normal eyelets. Also heat is slow to be conducted across 2 different parts, so for it to be able to transfer the energy through the threads of the bolt and outside the frame would mean the shock is getting REALLY hot

If the battery is removable, as it will aparently be the case, a smaller, lighter option should be offered. It's like, options are good, right? Most of my rides are under two hours, a smaller battery is a "cheap" way to save 1kg to 1.5kg...

I burned through ~85% of an 800w battery on the gen 5 motor in around 2 hours. Granted it was a little cold outside and I weigh ~180lbs. But 5k climbing isn't that much for a weekend ride when you've got a motor. I'm sure the Vala is a great bike and you can use a range extender. But I think a lot of consumers are scratching their head with the forced 600wh move.
I'm betting a lot of people will appreciate an 840wh battery in the Specialized, good on them. Looking forward to laughing at the 13k price tag though.
I thought this comment, from the Escape Collective's Cape Epic coverage, was interesting and wonder how it stacks uo against Fox Neo...

Apologies if I missed it (I’ve only consumed about 800 of the 846 pages in this forum while I shoulda been working or parenting) but is the 38 imminently due for a release?
Assuming it’ll have a a staggered announcement like all these others trickling out but haven’t seen much chatter about the 38. Burly single crowns are my jam.
I vaguely recall some talk of a Fox USD fork a while back but not much else in the forums about a new 38 so wondering whether it’ll get a major overhaul or the same kind of incremental updates as the 36.

Yeah, I think he was traveling in the States and might have borrowed a bike for a quick ride before he heads south for his lymphoma clinical trial.
I think the only reason it would have been taken down is because he wasn't riding a Forbidden, rather than riding a top-secret Forbidden.

Oh the Levo can take an extender too which bumps it to 1100ish... might even be more.
