Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
I’m hearing Nuke Proof is no more, Vitus too.
Someone mentioned Loris leaving Trek. Dak to Trek would be a nice "US" combo.
Asa Vermette is staying on Frameworks for the next 2 seasons!! So good for him and the team as I bet ALL the top teams were chomping at the bit to sign that kid, just throwing money at him from all angles. Great to see he has some "tegrity" and loyalty to the Frameworks team, american DH has a bright future again yay!
Is Ryan Pinkerton spoken for come 2024?
I think he'd be a good fit in IFR and get an opportunity to be mentored by a legend.
I dare say he has already signed on the dotted line with the GT Racing Team closing and we will find out officialy in the new year when contracts roll over.
SX / MX Contract magic date is October 1...
What's the magic date for DH / cycling? The new year?
That will be a mess for riders like Ronan Dunne who re-signed last year
No real date. Some teams try like to announce team roster just before the season starts. There is a date I think in February when the UCI have official team lists published.
He will be in good hands, and company.
Jan 1 usually.
looked it up few weeks ago… gwin signed a 2 year extension in 2021, so 2023 was his last year under contract with intense. will be really interesting what he‘s gonna do. odd time to depart after finally having a new working bike for both. hope he‘s not retiring, would be sad… want to see him at least give it all in a full injury free season.
cryptic
So riders looking for contracts in '24
Gwin
Dak
Joe Breedan
RonanDunne
Sam Hill
Verokia Widman
Ryan Pinkerton
Ethan Craik
Wyn
Reece Wilson (?)
Who else have I forgotten?
Danny Hart I think
Well he did sign a two year deal. Kinda bad move to bail out on it before it even starts....
Good thing because he was on GT/DVO before Neko nabbed him, major upgrade.
Jess Blewitt
I was glad to hear that in Neko's interview on the other site's podcast. Very interesting to have a 16 year old on an equity-based contract. Could be a really smart move for Asa.
Spit balling but Wyn has said he's stepping back from racing but not retiring. He's mentioned doing some different type races and specifically in the America's. He seems super invested in the Privateer Program. If GT is willing to continue helping with that, I doubt he'll need full factory support, maybe they have small team for him.
She has a ride, but no name given yet. Heard it on a podcast.
From the latest Making Up The Numbers podcast, one could easily read between the lines that Ryan Pinkerton is going to the new Mondraker team…
Craik has a ride for 2024 per "sources"
There's also a team people forget to gossip about looking to add another rider I've not seen guessed/speculated about.
the "Good times" will be Intense"
that was funny
Wait, I thought he had an ownership stake in this team? He's mentioned it several times. There was also some implied employment at Intense with him and John Hall doing new product development.
You can spot riders who aren’t on their current team next year by what they tag on insta 😅 #turqoise
Kyle Strait and DJ Brandt posting that they’re out of work due to the whole Wiggle/Chainreaction fiasco. I’d imagine Sam Hills looking for a team as well.
This is crap news but I bet this is true for 100% of brands Covid gave a false economy especially in the bike industry as everyone bought bikes to get out of the house as part of their exercise and so many of those people will never buy a bike again.
Its the same in all industries my wife is a buyer and they are don’t on targets (as this usually goes from the year before) by about 80%
Everyone went mad during Covid spending on stuff they didn’t need as they were all locked up in home so spent their money if they still had a job or got government payouts to help each week.
Now we have the opposite to Covid interest rates are high no one is spending as they are scared and you will see more and more of this happening over the next few months to a year due to everyone being in damage control.
Riders will still get sponsored as brands still need to advertise but I bet their salaries will be slashed.
Louise Ferguson.
I guess Nigel Page will be out of a job too.
Pinky has Lopes guiding him. I’m sure the kid will end up just fine. Wish I had a great pun but I’m out.
He is ending up just fine and very happy.
Hope he is not getting parking lessons
