Im pretty sure that Danny isn't as small as people think don't quote me on that as I can't remember where I saw it but I was also surprised when I read it. (Ill try dig it up)
Google reckons Danny is 178cm which I believe is similar to Gwin. So not that short.

For comparison, Troy Brosnan is 167cm and he's said 29ers are a no go. Riders below 170cm maybe the perfect candidates for a 27.5/29 combo. Although I'd wager that no rider in the top 15 overall will be on a mixed wheel bikes.

ben cathro mentioned in a podcast couple of days ago that danny hart might ride a 29/27,5 combo. makes sense for him.

remember when trek did the 69 stuff? it didn't last too long. i remember hearing from someone (forget who), that the differences in gyroscopic effect with two wheel sizes threw off consistent cornering characteristics, so trek scrapped it. obviously loic and crew are ludicrous testers, so they'll figure out if it works or not, but curious to see how it all goes.

What I find intriguing again is another Specialized gravity rider running Maxxis Minions. Note the DHFs on the front of both Bruni and Finn's bikes. Graves was also running a minion.

The demo has the same suspension design as the Canyon Sender minus the MX link (basically the AL version, but the shock is lower)

As of right now, Specialized doesn't make a DH casing 29er tire. The closest thing is the BLCK DMND but it is just a beefed up trail casing.

Correct but this 29er DH bike has been in the works for years. And they're a tire company nearly as much as they're a bike company. Seems odd there aren't a ton of working sample/prototype tires given this bike would likely be ridden at Crankworx in a couple weeks. Switching from Butchers to Minions and then back to Butchers right before the first major races of the year doesn't seem like a good strategy for a company who owns their tire factory.

Temp and pressure sensors most likely. Seen on a few other bikes, namely Danny’s if I recall correctly

Shhh, don’t tell Neko Mulally. He seems to like the combo in certain situations. Mainly steeps over the back wheel.

So is anyone going to say anything about that helmet? Clearly still fox and seems like a Rampage Pro replacement but it doesn't seem to be listed on the fox website quite yet. I am guessing it is a finalized design since it is painted already. I know Luca was seen with a prototype D4 at Thredbo so it would make sense that Fox is revamping theirs this year as well

The differential from 26 to 29 is much greater than 27.5 to 29.

The success of the Foes Mixer trail/enduro 27.5/29 bikes is paramount. They are so much fun to ride. By 2020 we will see DH WC guys on mixed wheel bikes if not 1 or 2 this season.

Keep in mind when trek did it it was 29” front and 26” rear. I have to image the gyroscopic differences with this setup wouldn’t have the same degree of negative side affects.

Link to his last build on yt. He did some experimenting back in the Scott days also. He says he only noticed minor differences between the two in most situations, but had gotten buzzed by the 29er. He also notes that he felt the 27.5 rear scrubbed better, probably due to how you lay the bike over and slide the back wheel off the lip.

Not sure about racing the WC, but I've ridden a modified YT Tues with 27.5 front, 26 rear and it was an absolute shralp machine! We called it the amphibian, "big" wheel to get over the rough stuff, small rear wheel for slashes and jumps. Loved it!

I guess the newer version of the TTX doesn't fit on that bike.
