Pinky shows everyone how to surf the dust. Unsurprising really. Wonder if this can catapult his season. Felt like when he got the sleeve as a junior, his career took off.

Pinkerton's winning margin was 0.975 seconds. He was 7th fastest at Split 1.

I've heard end of May as it's a holiday weekend for Buddha's birthday and great for tourism in Asia, but that's a very late start to the seasons.

The bike parks in Pyeongchang usually open the last week of April or first week of May. There's still snow on some of the lower slopes but the woods to the side are usually already dry and loamy. The course should be coming down from the top of the resort, so the potential for seeing snow off to the side is real.

Frank Pardal is doing more than scouting. The trail builders are here and at work!

Bro, you got google coordinates for the bike park that it's located in?  Need to start booking a trip!!

This is your main reference point though. Daegwallyeong is the closest town just 5 minutes away by car

Jinbu Station is the closest KTX express train station. A 15-20 minute cab ride to Yongpyong and Alpensia

If the KTX didn't have to roll through Seoul slowly, you'd probably be able to get to Jinbu in under 90 minutes from the airport.

If you rent a car, the beach is about 30-40 minutes to the east and also a viable place to stay.

If anyone is thinking at all of going, you should. You will have an amazing time and transportation is so easy in Korea. You'll show up at the airport, get to Seoul, and then take a high speed train to the venue with ease. And the locals will be STOKED. The food is out of this world. Going to Korea is the best kind of culture shock too.

Is Asa the junior champ? Or is Gavin still a junior?

I think Gavin is no longer a Junior. He was born in 2006 and I'm pretty sure he's considered 19 for his "racing age." The Competition Details say: "Racing Age is your age as of 12/31/2025." Gavin has been competing in Elite for WC races this year.

Competition Details are at: https://prodownhillseries.com/competition-details

Though I see no way for it to work, I think we can all agree it would be funnier if he pinky braked.

Interestingly, Pinky looks to be running a front Highroller 3 and a rear DHR2, so mud/loose conditions tire up front and a normal tire in the rear. Kinda wild. Obviously it worked.

That combo absolutely Rips, as someone who isn’t putting on a different set of rubber for every track or condition it’s my favourite to date. Its good on hard pack but when it gets wet or dusty it’s absolutely great

"Pro" does not necessarily mean professional.  Or polite, I guess.

It's really surprising that Gwin didn't get seeded behind someone more capable.

USA Cycling, what can you say?

Also, traveling across the entire country to have to have Brian Lopes stomp a mud hole in 50+ category will never be on my To Do list.
Brian Lopes "Cat 1 50+"...fokkkk!

Lol. He did the same in the 40+ category of the whistler ews 10 yrs ago. So when my wife sees him finish a stage she commented to a random lady standing next to her that he was a total "sanbagging doosh" ( repeating my words ). The woman then replied that he was her husband.

Why are you saying that's wild? That's the go-to setup for Maxxis World Cup DH riders in dusty/loose stuff. Once the new DHF is more widely available, that will change a bit since it has better braking the the HR3 but can still punch deeper and better than an Assegai.

Yeah, well, you get to a point where you can’t arguably race pro with people who are less than half your age!

I’m sure Lopes wouldn’t finish last in Elite / pro--but definitely not first either.  Personally, having won a few 30+ and 40+ races, and flatly rejected the idea of "going pro" at 39 yrs. old, in my case, there's nowhere to go up to--or in Lopes' case “down” to.  Until they come up with an “Elite 40+” class?!

You mess up in seeding you start where you start. Own it. You are going to have to deal with slower riders on course. Better luck next year. Does matter if you are AG or some never was has been local. Life ain't always stacked in favour.

Speaking of Gwin, he's back in Lake Placid checking on the new world cup track. I've been following some of the build on the trail building company's IG and it looks pretty cool, they're making some drops and features out of old ski lift towers. I wonder if Whiteface is gonna bring back their bike park in the future? The stuff they're building looks pretty permanent/hard to remove.

Do you have a link to that? I’m interested to see what’s cooking up there.
