To be fair he’s a 16 year old that lives on the other side of the world. which is probably the most exciting thing about dh racing right now. Three continents in men men and 4 continents in women have who could be the next big thing. And with the resurgence of stronger national/continental/regional series those who take a little longer to mature can still carve a path to make biking a career. the future is bright and should only get brighter.

That would actually be really interesting to test the brakes both ways.. Stock and then with a control pad and rotor set up. Then compare the results.. Especially when you look at some cheaper Shimano brakes.. A pad and rotor swap typically makes a huge difference there.. Some say they are even better than some of the higher end brakes..

That being said, I found Race Tapes entertaining... but it's also basically manufacturing a story for entertainment value vs. telling the authentic stories that actually exist but might require more insider knowledge and in-depth reporting to uncover. Looks like regular SID but doesn't look like the roval wheels have the torque cap installed. But that tire seems a new option from Specialized. Currently XC choice is Fast Trak or Renegade. This new captain look like a faster option than the renegade ? to compete with Maxxis Aspen that many were riding during this 1st round of WC XCO. Here is a clearer picture of the thread:

I agree, 22% (with a ramp up towards the end) seems a bit conservative. I have personally never come to terms with anything significantly below 30% even with an air shock. With a coil shock you'll have to rely heavily on the bumper or the hydraulic bottom out. Not sure why the did this on the "party" bike.

I'm not a professional/talented rider or anyone special by any means, but I am one of the people who was invited to the launch and ended up leaving with a Podium Gold fork. Nothing on my bike matches anymore and it looks hilariously bad with all of the random colors on it, but I don't even care; function over fashion. I am EXTREMELY grateful that I was even given the opportunity to go to Scotts Valley to check out all of the impressive new and upcoming products from Fox, Race Face and Marzocchi, and take home some cool new products...

Meh. It’s good for the market. Brands can sell small numbers of new bikes with new dampers and transmission at obscene prices for those who want it and there is really great and feasible options for the rest of us.
