Eh, I don't know. Paul Aston recently tested the nicolai r20 e-downhill bike, and figures it's better than any other dh bike he has tested, by 20%. I've kind of seen something similar with this e-dreadnought. It tears the pants off my dreadnought v2 on descents. So not sure being old and lame is a qualifier, it literally could be the faster bike. And after all, a chairlift is even less work than an e-bike 😁. I'd be all over one too, ideal for places like Valemount where shuttles only run on weekends.

Yeah, Magnus had it at the Canadian nationals. Laurie has had one for a while too. E-dread front triangle with a custom link and chainstay. The motor/battery is removed and an adjustable position bb is there instead. I was dying to take a pull on that prototype at the nats, I suspect it's going to be very good indeed, based on the fact that my e-dread was running the same times down the course as my supernought was. Also exciting that there could be an e-supernought, or link package for the e-dread, in the works.

I think at the end of the day the bike brands are banking that e bikes is going to open up a user base that previously was not interested in doing 1-3 hrs of fairly intense cardio or have to shuttle/lift. Think 11 year olds with zero interest in e-mtbing except to keep up with their friends. Think all the guys who previously hung it up cause they got fat and there’s a billion other fun things to do to be fit with way less hard wear and tear. Think guy who previously hung it up cause he never gets...

It'd be a different story if there was a performance hit, but they tend to be faster descenders, in addition to being able to self shuttle back up the mountain. More laps, more performance. Hell, I ride my e-dreadnought at lift service bike parks just as often as I ride my acoustic dreadnought v2 or dh bike...

In whistler, you see like five v10's for every one pivot phoenix. Talking to the shops there, they hardly ever see a broken v10 frame. If they do crack, it's because someone smacked the frame into something. Usually a chainstay hitting a tree or something like that. There are videos online of people breaking phoenix chainstays from normal landings, and breaking front triangles from heavy landings. These are single instances being published so it's tough to know if it's representative of a design issue, bad QC, or previous abuse, but the videos of catastrophic failures I have seen are concerning...
