From Minnaar’s lastest instagram post: a couple screenshots of the Team DH proto. I can’t wait for this bike to get released for us pigeons.

Sort of a tech rumour? Remy looks to be on an Avalanche damper in his latest video. We know Vorsprung is working on a new damper, and they had noted they’ve been testing all the other options (including Avy).

50 gallon neon traffic jugs vs regular traffic cones. Way fewer people hit those jugs. Just a fact. And poles versus nubs…clip a course pole with a pedal & have it almost rip you off your bike at speed. You change your intentions QUICKLY after that. Clip a neon nub & zero ramifications. Fewer racers go off track with poles & tape because consequences are far more “definitive “. It sets your mind firmly upon your precise line at ALL times. Blowing a pole & tape is a concrete mistake & physical feedback. As a racer, you 100% of the...

You can have remote audio production (mixing, commentating, etc) and compensate for any distance / delay.

I can’t speak to any specific instance but the shear number of DSQs this weekend is unusual and I have a few hunches. It’s easier to tell where you left the track. Whether because of damaging the tape of just the additional visual information. Earlier someone also mentioned that tape helps you see which direction the trail is going whenever there’s a blind crest and I think that’s true as well. Obviously racer’s are tasked with memorizing the track but the brain is weird and this strikes me as a pointless hazard that could be remedied with short taped sections...

Do juniors normally not have commentating? This is super refreshing just hearing the bikes work.

Aletha crashed before the first split, going down by over 5 seconds - she made a lot of that time back in her run, she was on another level this week. #raincheck

Sure they need to do something about it. If they don't want to bring back tape, they should at least change the pole's color to a flashy red or smth like that not the same color as the mountain 🫠 did they even think about this??!!?!?!

These green poles are truly one of the worst changes of this post-Red Bull era. While the tapes provided a perfect perspective of the track, making it easier to see the curves and obstacles, these green poles are the opposite, difficult to see, often camouflaged in the green of the vegetation or tree shadows. Take the case of the excellent track in South Korea; the poles are placed like a chess game, making the track super difficult to see... curiously, the tape continues in UCI XCO and in all other world-class Downhill championships as well... before, with the tape, it...

I don't buy it. Tiny little poles make it significantly more difficult to visualize course boundaries and influences the course boundaries themselves. Maybe one could say making things harder is a good thing but I find it sort of artificial and silly

I hope this spurs riders and teams to complain about the poles enough to get them thrown into the trash heap of terrible ideas forever

I sold my enduro bike last year fully intending to replace it for park season, but i've found myself just ripping the DH bike everywhere this season and I'm not feeling held back at all, I think my overall speed and skill has increased as a result too

Positives: Saves wear and tear on your pedal bike. DH parts are more durable and stronger, generally, since lightweighting is not a design goal. Saves your body. Makes you feel like a goddamn rockstar. Downsides: Needs a service before bike park season. Your other "big" bikes suddenly feel like they descend like shit after bike park season.

G10 PRJCT is rolling out world cup grade front rotor guards. Pretty sweet product for crap conditions and will protect the caliper and rotor while tailgate shuttling etc. Just picked up a Fox 40/220 rotor model and the fit/finish is great. https://www.g10prjct.com/collections/rotor-guards

Double checked my real-life measurements on drawing below - after scaling it using the bearing dimensions - and they correlate pretty closely. Part No.8 is the RH lower shock mount.

It is -4% so I would consider more linear effectively. I know Craig is controversial but even he is saying not compatible with coil, with a very Craig comment in there. If you run low enough sag you can make a linear bike work with coil. www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/Bike%20set%20ups/2023%20Murmur%20Enduro… Cascade has put a decent amount of time collecting data with their Stumpy project, so at least they are coming from a point of heavy research, even if the incentives are in their favor.
