Fox dropper seems nice. Bummer they don't offer it in non-Kashima coating. Hopefully the Bikeyoke one turns out to be good.

i'd love to hear a podcast with an explanation behind every stupid solution they adopted on their bikes, especially with an interviewer that tries to talk some sense into them

I think it looks awful and definitely going backwards. I don't like anything Scott is doing, but the current Gambler is one of the best looking dh bikes out there right now.

Downtube failures, seat tube failures, seatstay failures... I'm on OG Evil guy, I miss my Imperial, and have enjoyed my Chamois Hagar, but based on the failure rate of folks I know and the steady stream of dead frames I see online... I am in no hurry to buy another evil mountain bike. No one is out there posting 'my frame didn't break today' on Facebook, but I'm a big nerd and on groups for a lot of brands I like, and the pace of broken frame posts is alarming - I think they're just built too light, Evil is...

I don't find it perplexing at all that a more progressive design uses more travel for the same impact. The point of having progression is that it's softer at the beginning to absorb repeated small and medium impacts, but still retains bottom-out resistance. "Softer" means it uses more suspension travel for the same impact compared to a more linear design. The RM Altitude is designed for janky riding where there are a lot of small, unpredictable impacts that sap speed. Think places like BC, the northeast US, and lots of Europe. Riding in such terrain requires suspension to quickly react...

It'd be nice to keep this thread on topic "tech rumors and innovation". This thread has been so off topic the last few weeks / months even. Ask yourself "does my comment have to do with tech rumors and or innovation"? If no, stop. Heres a quick guide to others places to chat about various other hot topics. More likely it’s not a big enough change from the Evo and people don’t see the value in selling their current bike for an abysmal sum and then paying Spesh rrp prices.

That's normal for XD and XDr. Hope does the same thing. been like that for a few years. XDr 12 speed uses 11-speed spacing between gears so it needed a bit more room - just shy of 2mm as it would happen. I am assuming 13 speed comes about by SRAM using a narrower-than-11-speed spacing on the XDr driver. Certainly, it's possible that if/when SRAM releases mountain 13, they need to go on XDr to get every little bit of room they can.

I built up an Ibis HD4 frame years ago and had issues with a lower pivot creaking. After reassembling and torqueing to spec, the issue persisted so I dropped in to their factory with no notice/appointment to see if they had some advice. The guy at the front desk called someone on the phone, and a dude came down from his office to see what the issue was. He told me that he had engineered the frame and acknowledged that the torque spec had proven to be too low. He put my bike in the stand and replaced the (titanium)...
