3/4/2026 8:01pm Yeah, Berd spokes seem ideal for backcountry repairs, due to the ease of carrying spares. Back in the day there was actually a company that made fiber spokes specifically for temporary use, to get you home if your steel spoke failed. I'm forgetting the exact name...Fiberfix, or something like that. At that time, they didn't consider the fiber tech to be sufficiently durable for permanent usage, hence the temporary repair angle.

3/4/2026 4:09pm Friend of mine has been beating the crap out of them ever since they were available. A lot tougher than I expected. The argument that it would be hard to source one on a trip is kind of silly. You can literally just put a couple in your pocketā¦

3/4/2026 4:07pm I mean a stick getting stuck in a wheel will also easily take out a metal spoke. Ive also gone on to do plenty of riding after breaking a spoke or 2

3/4/2026 12:49pm I've been riding them for a few seasons. Pretty great. I treat them like garbage and have not had any problems.

3/2/2026 11:35pm A Vital MTB Tech Rumors contributors and enjoyers meetup would be a secret society event I would be fired up to show up to. Somewhere like Whistler in the summer or an apres sea otter. It could be fully unofficial to uninvolve the legal teams of the vital overlords. We could make a partiful and t shirts. All would be merry. Core lords could flex. I would go.

3/1/2026 12:20pm Iāll concede that I was a little harsh on the guy yesterday. Iām sure heās a great dude. I personally find Mike more relatable. I would argue that the real ābreath of fresh airā comes from Charlie over here⦠As for the āboomer core-lordā burn;

2/28/2026 7:25pm Considering that we've got the Marz Shiver, the Manitou Dorado, and the Rockshox RS-1, the statement is completely stupid whatever way you want to swing it.

2/28/2026 5:15pm As a crusty Marzocchi guy who worked there during the Shiver days, even I had a good laugh when people wanted to compare the Fox to the Shiver SC..

2/28/2026 3:54pm Dario is the manā¦? Beyond this meme I made, he is also pretty detached from real world consumers. Iāve heard he typically says something is ācheapā or very ācompetitively pricedā during their podcast. When another host asks him how much it is - he doesnāt know. š¤Ø

2/25/2026 8:06am If you hate all their other new stuff and how much it costs, just wait until you see the pricing on that new Demo... it's not going to be nice. Soon, you'll be able to buy a new vehicle and live like you did when you were 20 and your bike was 3x more expensive than your car. Maybe they'll roll out a subscription service for the suspension system Loic is running. Every bike will come equipped with it, but you have to pay for every level of adjustment. I'm also sorry if I put a thought in a product...
