5/20/2024 3:30pm Jake and Dan just pulled the Dave Portnoy/Barstool move: sell out to the corporate goons at peak value, watch them tank the brand to within an inch of its life, then step in at the last minute to buy it back at pennies on the dollar. Kent is stoked to be rid of the sinking ship, while Jake and Dan now have the profits from the original sale to reinvest into the brand. Perfect! IMO they should bring back the 2000's styling and model names. Not many brands have been around long enough to go 'retro', but Kona has. Bring...

5/18/2024 1:10pm In the raw practice video from Round 1, they had EDR and EDR-E in the same video. Even before you could work out what bike they were on (E or not) you could tell because the way you have to ride the ebikes is so different. On the tighter, techer sections the non-E riders were taking way more interesting, creative lines that looked fun - and the style of riding I prefer to do myself - whereas on the eebs they were just lifeless and ploughing through stuff. It's just the nature of the beast - much heavier bikes, necessarily...

5/17/2024 10:01am Yeah. I have that. But there’s usually an article on PB that has write ups on each stage and such. Not blaming any of the journos, it’s just a sad indicator and a result of it happening as a prelude to everything else with the “real” action starting with DH. Misspent Summers is at least carrying the enduro torch.

5/14/2024 3:34am The shift that caused enduro to lose its magic and appeal to your average racer/fan seems to be a push from multiple high level race series to "legitimize" the discipline by removing aspects that made enduro uniquely enduro. Long days, chats on the transfers, community cohesion, privateer participation, accessible qualification, and affordable racing. ESO seems to think they can broadcast these races but still won't do it. If the races aren't broadcasted then why do the liason times need to be shorter? Why are many races staged entirely within bike parks? Why the same venues year to year? All of...

5/12/2024 9:39am Maybe… just maybe,,, now stay with me here… she (and the other pros saying the same thing) has a valid point that the liaison times were unrealistically short and us armchair racers should refrain from speculating on her (and other pro athletes who do this for a living) fitness levels and take them at their word that they know what they’re talking about and the liaison times were, indeed, unrealistically short.

5/1/2024 6:38pm I think it looks sick, but it's definitely out there. Kinda like the Cannondale/EF + Palace collabs. It's better than the three color, blocky, and boring stuff so many do. I'll hold out until I see it out in the wild, but it's my vote so far for "Lit Kit". I'd rather see fun, wacky, skate-inspired designs than have everything look like motocross (unless it's full-on motocross like Gwin, that passes the vibe check).

4/19/2024 4:40pm Maybe I’m backwards, but if we’re talking cars and bikes here, I’d rather take a page out of history’s books, than look to the future. I currently daily drive a manual transmission 2010 Honda Fit. It’s hands down the best car I’ve ever owned, even when compared to the brand new Subarus and Toyotas I’ve owned in the past. The build quality is stellar, parts are cheap, and there’s not a Bluetooth this or giant TV screen that anywhere in it. If a somewhat reputable manufacturer could make a cloth interior, hand crank windows bare bones commuter car for like...

3/28/2024 1:09pm So many comments recently with people being overly pedantic about reach numbers. (Not just here). 10mm is literally nothing. Swap a 50mm and 40mm stem , get narrower or wider bars, try a different back sweep. Get thinner or thicker grips, bar roll stem spacers, adjust your cleat position etc. H ell, the hand position difference between single collar lock on grips and double collar probably changes your torso position as much. Reach is just one aspect of bike fit. Writing something off because the reach isn't exactly a perceived magic number by 10mm without trying it is very close...

3/28/2024 12:40pm I keep trying to avoid this thread for what it's become but somehow the takes are getting even worse. First of all, in the way you are arguing, yes the tricks specifically don't matter that much. In the show aspect. But it's still a competition with scoring and win bonuses for sponsors. So that's why it's relevant. If they want to turn it into a non-scored exhibition that's totally fine and I think the exact same kind of people would go for the exact same type of riding. People seemed plenty happy to watch the girls ride (at a level...

3/28/2024 12:37pm I think some of the people here are a bit deluded about the level of skill of the top slopestyle riders. If you take the best guys, so that'll probably be these five: Emil Johansson, Dawid Godziek, Tim Bringer, Erik Fedko and Nicholi Rogatkin. Then choose their likely best trick: Emil Johansson with an opposite 360 windshield wiper. Spinning a 360 with his back foot leading the spin instead of normally with the front foot leading which is easier as that's which direction his hips would be facing and doing a tailwhip one way and then another tailwhip back in...

3/27/2024 2:54pm errr I'm sorry but, if possible, the slope guys n gals should ABSOLUTELY have the most flexible schedule and be given the safest conditions. if the DH is rainy or windy, they can go slower to be safer and even skip jumps and basically the cost is TIME. i mean thsoe riders kinda HAVE to go in bad conditions, they know what to do. you can NOT run big air freestyle events in wind and sometimes rain given soil condition. and these are the guys who do it on (checks notes) 26 inch hardtails or 100mm bikes on jumps where...

3/27/2024 2:52pm my take is that due to the size of the jumps, and the clearance required to film / broadcast creates a lot of exposure, meaning the wind is a bigger factor than other events, except for maybe rampage. periodically there is discussion during a race broadcast about the effect of wind on the biggest jumps too.

3/27/2024 2:49pm I was trying to hang on until he went with 'generation who dont understand where the sport comes from' and even worse the 'generation Z stereotypes'. Sadly, I can gauge a lot about his OWN narrative (if he wants to talk about stereotypes) within those statements. Also bringing up times when the money was honestly pretty good. The ECONOMY was pretty good. Is sliiightly disingenuous. Not to take the nuance out of the statement. But Having worked in the action sports industry myself, I remember what 2005-2010 was like. Even for BMX which is usually lower on the totem pole...

3/27/2024 2:45pm Man I feel like people aren't reading the whole thread or can't stay on topic with the same points. We can't get away from this idea it's about guys getting paid tons of money (like its about top earners). Unless you're privy to information that's not yet been revealed. This ENTIRE thing is about the wild cards and lowest guys on the totem pole earning some peanuts so that they can either BREAK EVEN or make a single peanut off the event. Let's not forget the top riders just gave up winnings earnings and likely sponsor win bonus (if not...

3/27/2024 2:41pm Except the Emil’s of the sport are the ones sitting out to try to get an appearance fee for the rest of the field. The riders have said the whole reason they are asking for one is to ensure the best of the rest can afford to go to the show. considering the majority of the field has to travel across continents for 3/4 events or a minimum of 2/4 events it’s not unreasonable to want food and some travel money to participate. Slopestyle contracts are often structured very different to racing contracts where the rider is paid a salary/frame/parts...
