6/5/2025 10:26pm I'm really excited for the XTR embargo to be over so I can get more miles in on the new not-a-clutch clutch mechanism on my primary bike. Very curious how it will affect suspension feel to have spring force instead of friction controlling the cage on my long travel bike with relatively high anti-squat.

6/5/2025 11:47am It's funny that everyone is up in arms over no clutch on the new XTR.. From the video I watched, it sounds like they just went a different route to solve the chain slap issue by using 2 springs...

6/5/2025 12:00am Who’s broken one already? That point would be valid if axs mechs didn’t have such a high breakage rate too. A faster and tuneable shifting speed is a great USP. Especially as their HG+ chain and cassette design can cope with it. Whereas Srams just cannot, hence why they've made Transmission so slow. Why is fast precise shifting a bad...

6/4/2025 11:49am My favourite anecdote on the pricing that I tell people is that, 25 years ago in Eastern Europe, I paid 1K for a brand new Marzocchi Z1 Bam, which is exactly as much as I would pay for the current top of the line Zeb Ultimate. And there is more to compare, but the point is, we are quite lucky actually compared to other areas in life where things have gone through the roof (housing,...). It is not the cheapest sport, but what we can get these days for the money, the abuse it will withstand, and the fun you...

6/4/2025 9:46am After a 10 YEAR hiatus, Shimano is back in the electronic drivetrain space, this time without wires (thank god!). I've been riding the drivetrain and brakes since the beginning of December, 2024. 6/4/2025 9:45am Here's how roller wear manifests as elongation. Though it's perhaps inaccurate this elongation is colloquially referred to as 'stretch'.

6/4/2025 3:53am Regarding " And we are losing people perfectly capable of winning the race on race day from participating..." this one is interesting to me. If they are perfectly capable of winning on race day, then they are surely capable of qualifying for one of the 30 spots. A few other people have expressed the same opinion "but we are losing some of the fast guys now..." which seems to imply that the new qualifying format is somehow putting some of the fast guys at a disadvantage? I think there's definitely a generational shift going on, and many of the riders...
