I asked ChatGPT what Sesame Seed was talking about and to be okay with being brutally honest and distasteful if it wants. Enjoy: This comment seems to be a convoluted attempt at drawing parallels between professional bike racing and motorsports, particularly Formula 1, but it’s a jumbled mess of loose associations and misplaced terminology. Let’s break it down brutally: 1. Chain Drive Skepticism : The commenter kicks off with skepticism about recent changes to bike racing due to “chain drive,” but gives no real details or context for what exactly they are skeptical about. It feels like they are grasping...

I read this twice and I still have no idea what you intended to say other than jaded garbage. You definitely have truly lackluster diction.

I still feel they kinda are secretive about it. There were comments on their instagram post sometime mid-august asking on what exactly does that "exclusive and proprietary" mean. I agree that they're free not to disclose that information for a multitude of reasons... No one is asking for specific lists of instructions, but something along the lines of "we're using...

They're not secretive about it at all, it's been advertised that the upper tubes are bonded into the crown unit as a method to ensure alignment. And, from owning a Nine One, it definitely rides like the alignment is spot on.

So that effectively means if you're careful enough with building a contraption similar to Kovarik's STFU you'll get all the benefits for a fraction of a price?

If memory serves the 1st gen Ohlins units had a one piece crown steerer with pressed in stanchions. Whoever it was, it went away quietly. Why? First guess is cost. A full length steerer and crown take up a lot of space in a mold, which means fewer pieces per run. Second guess is inconsistency. Flow paths and rates in the mold would need to be completely dialed for molten metal to flow and fill 100%ish correct. Any void or seam is a stress riser. Third guess is it is easier to manufacture a stronger steerer out of a better...

Hardline, crankworx races, 1199 at Whistler, half the national champs around the world etc. Somebody who says you can't build and race a WC track in a year has either never raced, or never built a track, but most likely both. Will it gets gnarly and blown out, hell yeah, it's a WC track it happens to them anyway.

I feel like semenuks oppo whip lillypad drop thing is being very under stated - debatably the most technical and precise move of the whole event? It probably ticked off every judging criteria 10/10. In the end the Top 4 were all amazing runs, could have gone either way.

I realise this is flogging a several year-long dead horse now but here goes. Scoring the riders with numbers doesn't make sense to me for this event. Rampage feels more like a showcase of things that are simply insane to do on a mountain bike. As soon as you try and assign arbitrary numbers to that it takes away from whoever scores low down the leaderboard. The reason folk are so angry about Brendan's score is the complete lack of recognition for the standout qualities of his run - exposure and technicality (terrain rather than tricks obviously). So how about...

On one hand, everyone has already said a lot, but on the other hand this is VitalMTB forums where we go forever so here are my takeaways 🤣: 1. It feels that judges really like "fluidity" which is actually just a mix of speed and lack of hesitation. The riders who had really high scores had fast runs with no moments where you could see them prepare for the next feature. I guess bring back a "free-racer" and let's see if the fastest run of the day can place on the box Smile 2. I gotta say the margin for...

Please buy my DH fork that's been ridden super hard and never serviced. The oil seals don't leak because there's not enough oil left in the lowers to properly lubricate the bushings. If you can deflect a 35mm Boxxer to the point it's truly an issue, I'll be the first one to cheer for you on the WC circuit or at Rampage.

Here we are thinking that Shimano is releasing the new Saint cranks soon. But what they are actually going to sell us is a “Saint” sticker to slap on a crank of our choice for $300. Modern Problems. Modern Solutions.
