Yup. And they were told to not be a copy cat again before release but apparently ignored it. Copying arguably the best brake on the market and even doing improvements AND then iterating on them with more improvements is one thing. Blindly copying the most well known CNC crank on the market that is not even the best design for. A crank is just pure laziness... I was in the give the benefit of doubt camp before this release, now there is no helping them.

Ok Jeff, here's two important questions for you: Do Rise Mtb's rubberized fingers penetrate deep? The magnet, how does it work?

Thanks for the post (and noting the broken link). I just took care of it. As to the questions... 1) Its pretty light. The low variant has a smaller magnet and weighs ~66 grams (total) whereas the medium and tall variant have larger magnets and weigh ~88 grams (total). These are untrimmed numbers. 2) While pedaling, there is zero additional friction. Pedaling forces always pull the chain off the magnet (immediately, you will not notice it). Also, while in the higher part of your cassette (say, climbing) the magnet is further from the chain and the force significantly weaker, which...

Running Schwalbe Alberts, Trail casing super soft on 160/140 travel trail bike. They are crazy good, they just erase small trail chatter. Running 3-4psi more than previous tires, at 27F/30R and still feel like I could go up without any issues with traction. When climbing tech they deform and grip amazingly well and with the pressure I'm running no issues rimming-out on chunky rock or rolling when loaded into corners. Have multiple trail rides and two park days on them so far. Have been using Maxxis Assegai/DHRII in Exo+/Maxxterra combo and Vittoria Mazza in Trail/4C casing/compound on this bike this...

Actually very similar to the approach that Downamics talks about using in their Instagram post above. We recorded data from a range of different rides on varying bikes and trails. Merged the data and cleaned it up a little. We used a fast Fourier transform to order the data in a most to least occurrences fashion. Drew conclusions from this and then selected a specific trail that had a range of different speeds, features and conditions in one lap, the kind that, if you were to set up your suspension on, it would yield a solid ball park set up...

Dead Silent, no rattle. Interestingly, ours is sprung much firmer that the counter cycles version in all three frequency set ups we've targeted. It's really cool to see others doing their own data acquisition and analysis of the Countercycle one, I hope ours is put under similar security. The specific frequencies we targeted were derived from a great deal of data collection, Fast Fourier Transfer analysis and GPS comparison. Looking at which frequencies were actually felt as negative at a given instance and which were actually part of the ride characteristics of the chassis. It's clear all the options being...

Are we going to read anything into the photos from the Hardline start list (which will take place in 2025)? There's no consistency so the riders submitted the photos themselves rather than being stock images. Some have chosen to show their sponsored kit, others have almost deliberately hidden it or worn something ambiguous. e.g. Fearon, Holl, Edwards and Vermette have all gone for the plain black tee/hoody. Goldstone and Holl have deliberately shown their hat and eyewear spnsors but have cropped their jerseys out. Others have gone the other way and really tried to get their brands in the frame...

Hey, I’m Ryan Burney. I’ve spent eight years as an engineer for full-suspension bikes, working on some fun projects, like developing the flex Horst link for the Cannondale Scalpel and being lead engineer for the latest GT Fury downhill bike. With over a decade of downhill racing under my belt (even made it to one World Cup—though I didn’t qualify so I stuck to engineering), I've had the pleasure of racing alongside the Vital crew, like Jason, Tanner, and Dak. Below is a photo of me, being slower than Dak. These days, I’m focused on my own projects, but I...

How do those rsl se tyres compare casing-wise to Maxxis(EXO+/DD), Conti (Enduro / DH), Schwalbe SuperGravity? What about the triple compound, again, compared to the other offers on the market? thanks

This dovetails nicely into the idea of what can happen when a company overcapitalizes. There are numerous negative side effects to raising too much money and growing infrastructure well past the means of the business is one of them. As a refresher, TPC raised ~$60M (that isn't a typo) from 2019-2024. Two of my favorite finance minds (Bill Gurley is the mentor I wish I had) talk about the idea of company's raising beyond their means on their pod this week. The important part starts around 12:30. Some of this I touched on briefly in the Pod I did with...
