Salespunk Liked a reply to forum topic Will lighter riders benefit from an RS Zeb or Fox 38?

The A2C difference is closer to 5 mm, not 25 mm difference between the 38 and 36 https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=1089 https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=1090 I have the '21 version of both the 36 and 38. The 38 is definitely the more plush fork and provides a little more direct connection at the extreme end of the performance envelope. For most riders I agree, stick with what you have unless you are on an eBike or a heavy rider pushing very hard. The difference is subtle and not OMG this is amazing. One thing to be aware of is that the 38 is not as easily...

As much as I've been enjoying the shit out of rider vlogs and race coverage this was a refreshing change. Good work everyone. Handshakes all around.

All these rumours and reviews of boutique and expensive suspension and Pidcock goes and wins a gold medal on Suntour suspension. Stock Fourstrokes come with Fox Suspension, so I wonder why he opted to switch it out when Ineos doesn't have a 'suspension' sponsor? Pinarello did make a 'full suspension' road bike for Paris-Roubaix but it's not clear what suspension brand (if any) they collaborated with for that model.

BACK ON TRACK FFS. Looks like a new (or maybe just cut) DHR2ish tire on the front of Rude's bike from this past weekend's BME race in Big Sky. Side knobs look different to me.

Can someone just start a BICKERING ABOUT GEOMETRY thread so that we can get on with TECH RUMORS here?

Anyone that thinks MVP can't ride a mountain bike is an idiot, plenty of footage of him shredding XC bikes on rough terrain. Sucks what happened, and can understand his reaction in the aftermath of the race. Give it time he will probably own it. More embarrassing is the Dutch women's team and the whole organization's reaction to the road race where they got embarrassed. Whining about lack of radios/info because they can't count breakaway riders out/in. Not even congratulating the winner who was standing beside them, pathetic. Jolanda killed it though! Huge save on the drop and then passing...

I also (180cm, shortish arms) went from 440reach to 500 reach bird am9 in the recent years. After the initial surge of confidence the long reach starts feeling quite dull. Now back with 460 on a mullet megatower and building up a M sized 2020 5010. I think the ultra long reach thing is fading and most suited towards intermediate racers looking for raw speed & beginners looking for safety and confidence.

"a bike with a certain amount of travel and at 30% sag will have the same seat angle regardless of suspension design" This isn't exactly true, since sag percentages are generally measured at the shock, not the wheel. At least in theory (maybe someone else can back me up on this), leverage ratio can have an impact on the actual wheel travel for a specific % of shock stroke. Say you have 'Bike 1' which is entirely linear, with 150mm travel and a 60mm stroke shock (average LR of 2.5), and 'Bike 2' which has the same amount of travel...

It also appears that this was a mostly blind run as he mentioned not remembering several sections/features as he rode up on them.

Dropping my thousand dollar downhill bike on rocks still doesn't feel as bad as watching an airport employee throw my thousand dollar bike onto the luggage rack. And then stacking other luggage on top of it.

I would be making some calls looking for a mfg defect warranty claim ….. a reputable brand with limited lifetime- would replace or upgrade with one or two calls

It doesn't have to be high, could be and is most likely when the cranks are level. If he rides left foot forwards while descending steeper terrain, that part of the crank will be lower than the pedal and would be right around the point of the heel where it moves up and down as you ride over rough terrain.

I had worn a hole through the underside of the top tube of a Trance Advanced from the water bottle rubbing. Was not impressed, but it was a good reason for a new bike though.

Wowza. Never seen that in a carbon crank. I've worn a hole just like that through a carbon frame from cable rub under the bottom bracket, but I wasn't nearly as worried about structural integrity as you should be. Either that or say F it and go do some "structural testing" by overshooting all your local jumps to flat.
