Nice, I love the "build it but don't build it but if you do build it do it in a way that maybe it will get ignored long enough to eventually become legal" approach. As a land manager, I can neither endorse nor disavow this tactic. Edit: But I will fully endorse not leaving a big, steamy pile all over other people's hard work, whether that hard work is a well-built trail or a successful partnership. Just be cool honey bunny.

I stand up a lot on climbs and have always spun a low cadence when seated, road or mountain. My HR goes through the roof when I my cadence is above 80 rpm. It works for me but I realize it isn’t for everyone.

Exactly. Not having to finesse your rims and tires through rocks is the best feeling ever. Instant confidence and I can just focus on riding my bike faster.

Nice, I have a second set of wheels fully ready to swap out at a moment's notice, in the end I put the heavy tyres on the lights wheels and almost never use the lighter tyre option. They feel fine but I hate having the thought that I should be careful when riding, and really really hate puncturing (haven't taken a spare tube with me in years, or suffered a fatal puncture)

For those interested in unsanctioned trail endeavors- Download the Onyx hunting app. It'll give you property owner info. Make sure you aren't on an individuals land who might be around a lot. Public land that isn't protected is ideal, figure out who the land managers are though. Might save your ass down the line. Onyx has other useful info like gates as well.

Definitely! I can’t run anything shorter than 50mm for all those reasons. It’s like instant grip and confidence.

Another suggestion for getting weight on the front wheel: a longer stem. I'm not advocating people go crazy and throw and 90mm behemoth on the front of their bike, but switching from a 35/40mm stem to a 50, you'll likely find it much easier to weight the front wheel with the same stack height.

Lots of companies were scrambling at that point... Nobody was sure which direction the market was going to go and in their case, if they were even going to be allowed to have employees in the building..
