Mountain bike shipping delays because cardboard bike boxes couldn't be made?! All this and more on today's show with Joe Graney, CEO of Santa Cruz Bicycles.
Welcome Mountain Bikers! Did you know that Santa Cruz had shipping delays this year because they couldn’t get cardboard for their bike boxes? That is the kind of world we’re living in right now and on today’s show, we talk with CEO of Santa Cruz, Joe Graney, about the current state of the bike industry and bike availability.
If you’re looking for bikes or components, JensonUSA.com should be at the top of your list. They’ve supported the Inside Line since day 1 and continue to offer 10% off qualifying items at checkout when you use coupon code, insideline, all one word. Thank you Jenson!
A fresh pair of Maxxis Tires may be the best way to update the personality of your bike. There’s nothing like new tires to keep you gripping and ripping and Maxxis make some of the best in the game.
And finally, we touch on this a bit in the show, despite the hard times of the pandemic, Santa Cruz’s Paydirt initiative is donating $1m over three years to trail projects around the world. Discover the recent grant recipients and see how your project may get help. Hit up santacruzbicycles.com/paydirt

I never understood this dichotomy between mom-and-pop and not-a-mom-and-pop. I looked up Backcountry.com and found: "Backcountry.com was founded in 1996 by Jim Holland and John Bresee. The two started the online business ... from their garage in Park City, Utah."
When does a business go from mom-and-pop to not deserving of empathy? When they make a profit? When they have more than one store? Doesn't every mom & pop want to be more than a mom & pop? I doubt mom and pops choose to remain mom and pops, unless that means selling your soul to some nebulous corporate devil.

@diatribe69 When you typed that you were aware that Backcountry.com was sold to a soulless corporate devil several years ago right?
On May 7, 2007, it was announced that a controlling stake in Backcountry.com was sold to Liberty Media Corporation, which also controls QVC and other e-commerce companies. This transferred effective ownership of the company to billionaire John C. Malone.
Founded: 1996
Headquarters: West Valley City and Park City, Utah
Industry: Ecommerce, Outdoor Industry
Number of employees: 1200+
Number of people getting paid reduced wages to make sure a corporate CEO hits his profit margin to get his annual mega-million dollar bonus? Infinite.
