Was pretty much part of the release, their team riders 'preferred' the feeling of alloy vs carbon for the compliance. of course, as far as we know, there was no carbon version to compare it to. I think we should be happy that a company like Trek is releasing these bikes now, I would absolutely love to justify buying one.

i bet this bike absolutely rips. Something i am very curious of is how does a company successfully tell its customer that this alloy bike is now their fastest/best dh bike yet, while over the past 10 years they have told their customer that you NEED carbon. i get all the factors about production for a niche market, and how carbon is mostly marketing, just interesting to completely shift away from OCLV to alloy. I have always preferred alloy bikes anyway.

With prices on these creeping up to Maxxis territory, it will be hard not to compare their performance against the best. Specialized tires used to be a good budget product, but those days are behind us. Of course, with the anticipated supply issues, Specialized can sell tires based on availability rather than price.

What I'm saying is: I don't see how the chainguide caused the crash. I see how the chain caused the crash, I just don't see the link. What story are you suggesting: a) Chainguide failure ===> causes broken chain ===> chain goes into front wheel and flips Luca OTB? b) Chainguide failure ===> causes broken chain ===> chain goes into...

Yeah, I fail to see what the problem is. When a chain snaps it's anyone's guess what happens next. Sometimes they drop out of the bike harmlessly, sometimes you go over the bars, sometimes they get sucked into the wheel. Sometimes you're Aaron Gwin and you win the race and sometimes you're Luca Shaw and you break your back.

There is nothing wrong with full chain guides used in DH (well, by most riders not hunting milligrams in all the wrong places at least), him crashing also didn´t have anything to do with chain guide, stop chains from snapping, that´s all that is required from this not happening. And chains not snapping belongs in the same bracket as not flatting tires, it´s not going anywhere anytime soon. If anything, the chain guide did too good of a job to keep the snapped chain on the bike long enough for it to get sucked into rear wheel.

just to point out the obvious, the Butchers from a couple of years ago have nothing in common with these new ones except the basic tread pattern. I'm currently seeing really good results with the Grid Trail stuff... probably jinxed it now :-)

Hmm, looks like a huge gap going from grid gravity to grid trail, and the rear focused t7 is too light for trail riding. They seem to revamp the line every other year, but refuse to spec the right amount of rubber per application.

Riding an Ebike for the first time was mind blowing. Not only does weight not matter in a lot of circumstances, but it's awesome in others. The bike carried so much speed through flatter sections of trail. It's like bumps couldn't slow it down. And the added grip on roots, slick rocks, and in turns was immediately noticeable. Made me think about taping lead weights to my bike like that lovable kook from England.

@sinatorj I kept riding up the lift with this sicko who had nothing but dead fetus jokes and a perverse sense of humor. I blame him for the twisted number plate.
