I had one of the original versions of the banshee scream. 888, gazzolodi tires, etc. 55 pounds. Tons of weight in the frame was around the BB. I’m some situations it was amazing. Others not as much. E bikes feel similar to me now except with better suspension and tires. If your trails are basically up and then down, heavy bikes IMO are great. When the trail is more rolling is when I think they are significantly worse (unless your bike has a motor). Also when pumping is super important a heavy bike can be exhausting

Riding an Ebike for the first time was mind blowing. Not only does weight not matter in a lot of circumstances, but it's awesome in others. The bike carried so much speed through flatter sections of trail. It's like bumps couldn't slow it down. And the added grip on roots, slick rocks, and in turns was immediately noticeable. Made me think about taping lead weights to my bike like that lovable kook from England.

We need this type of Cooks.. They actually shake thing up and make progress and evolution happen.. May be due to pushing it too much though... I like a Porter beer every now and then, to recalibrate.

agreed. The extra weight is great in a lot of scenarios. helps in areas you mentioned and from my experience jumping as well. Where ebikes are hampered by weight are steep trails with tight turns (steep trails in bham or you local salmon killers)

Of course the Peanut Gallery will take this info and try to apply it to their AM bikes, which isn't quite as clear cut with gravity and all.
