I know where you stand on this topic, I recall your post about it some years back. However...to Finn's credit, he does call out that one style is just a turned-down whip. The second form is actually a scrub, wherein the execution has to do with coming in hot, compressing the bike, and carving off the lip as to stay lower over a jump. A throttle is not required, it is just a hell of a lot cooler. I would draw the same comparison to whips. Yeah, mountain bikers whip but nothing like a moto.
