My step daughter (or...will be step daughter in 2 months) is 45 pounds. Her bike is at least 25 pounds. She tries SO hard to get up relatively small hills, and is a total trooper for doing it. But it'd be 1000% more fun for everyone if she had a tiny bit of assistance, like just enough to make her bike that is over 50% her body weight feel more like its 20% her body weight. In this case I'm not sure it'd actually work, being the motor+battery would add weight to the point she might be scared of the...

It’s always been so funny to me when adults are leery of kids being on e-bikes. Their muscles are much less powerful in relation to the size of their bike and the trail. They may deserve to be on e-bikes more than adults!

In addition to Lapierre filing for judicial reorganization, Raleigh (Accel UK/Ireland) has filed to appoint administrators. Both are trying to restructure separately from the Accell holding company. Should be interesting. Bike EU article may be paywalled

Sram is established enough to not have to go that route.. But, they will need something really special to compete with Avinox...

If SRAM hadn't shit the bed with the Powertrain, would it make financial sense for them to produce an e bike frame a la Amflow? They could pretty much spec a whole bike and be quite competitive I'd think. Could they realistically do a catalogue frame? Would they piss off their customers too much to try?

That’s the impression I got, too soft an alloy rather than stamping==bad. Personally I couldn’t care less if the discs are true and if I can use the pads I want. Also, not that we do it much anymore, the rounded edge makes dropping the wheel in a little easier. For some reason I thought that laser cut brake discs were heat treated to relieve stresses and ground to spec after. No idea where I picked that up though, maybe it’s logistically hard to grind steel flat stock to thickness?

This is a lot of cool stuff packed into one aftermarket damper, and if it works as advertised that would be unreal for puzzlers and tweekers like me. I'm really curious to learn more about how the "tune adjuster" works, because I too don't understand what it means when they say the "t une Adjuster provides seven different base tunes."...

The Rockshox Boxxer comes with a two upper crowns to cover most headtube lengths, length ranges are listed in the manual. Let me know, I have a new D2 that I will be selling b/c I had a DH build that didn't work out.

I could be off here, but in the assembly video it looks like the HSC ports come before the LSC shims, similar to the Rockshox arrangement. Would the mechanism for variable orifice size be able to better manage the than the Charger 3 style needle? Seems like that could also be tuned.

Which is what ohlins has been doing since their entrance into the MTB market. From the assembly video it looks like the HSC adjustment is somewhat unique. From what I can tell the piston has 3 main ports with a number of smaller ports, on the same BCD, that can be blocked from the flow path decreasing the amount of port surface area of the face shim, very different than the ellipse camp plate on the ohlins HSC circuit which adjusts the clamp diameter and the resulting force curve slope. No idea if it rides the same but I would...

Depends on which damper - on Charger 2.1, that's not the case, it just adds preload to a spring, orifice doesn't change. LSC is orifice via a needle.

Minor correction but Rockshox external HSC adjuster changes the orifice size which creates a quadratic response.

Other HSC adjusters, like Rockshox or Manitou, adjust preload on a spring that either contacts the edge of the face shim or the top of the stack

Think of HSC Tune Adjuster as adjusting the "shape" of the compression on a dyno chart versus a HSC adjuster that sets "where" that chart begins (the lower threshold of when that circuit is active) For instance, you can have a HSC tune that provides a ton of HSC at higher shaft speeds but opens up early, or a HSC tune that produces a very uniform amount of HSC no matter what the shaft speed does.

Introducing the ZETA Damping Cartridge by SIMONS.LAB Externally adjustable compression and rebound tunes, Hydraulic Bottom-Out packaged in a drop-in cartridge design: ZETA is now available for FOX 38, RockShox ZEB and Intend upside-down suspension forks. Many riders know the situation: changes to the compression or rebound damping do not produce the desired effect on the trail, or an improvement in one area comes with noticeable compromises elsewhere. This is often caused by the predefined internal base tune found in conventional suspension forks. External adjusters can fine-tune this base tune, but they cannot fundamentally change it. If the tune does not...

these engagement bait titles are gettin good! the first rule of core club, is you do NOT. TALK. ABOUT core club. jokes aside, ya know being from surf culture the most core thing is inherently the idea of surfing alone, at lesser known beach breaks, especially if the waves aren't even that good. and you're just groveling and out there for yourself, no social element, even when its not convenient. and there is a large amount of crossover to this concept to MTBing. ya know going to a well known trail center, and riding the trails that are like top...

Update: So i took the bike to my LBS and we got it all sorted out. Turns out all it needed was some more leverage, they had to really crank on it but it did break loose, nothing was damaged. It was a case of the threads simply seizing together. We loaded it up with a healthy dose of anti-seize grease and it hasn't given me any problems since.
