HA! FWIW, when I was writing copy I did look up what word I should use and even asked GPT 4o, which is frankly better than me at writing. Here were the results. Obviously, I'm using definition "2".

Yup. And they were told to not be a copy cat again before release but apparently ignored it. Copying arguably the best brake on the market and even doing improvements AND then iterating on them with more improvements is one thing. Blindly copying the most well known CNC crank on the market that is not even the best design for. A crank is just pure laziness... I was in the give the benefit of doubt camp before this release, now there is no helping them.

"there are only so many ways you design a crank" says the average vital user. People will buy the bullshit that they are just "inspired by the best" and vote with their money. I hope 5dev trolls them in typical 5dev fashion. The Germans are too nice. What is next? CNC copy of Intend stems? Copy of Yoshimura pedals?🍿

Lol, Lewis at it again. It seems they are inspired by 5DEV now. Looks like a 5DEV lookalike crank: https://www.instagram.com/lewisbike_official/reel/DCq43PoTeLv/?hl=en

This was my observation when I ran them, same thing with the Maximas. You don't get that sortof pressure on the lever when you pull it and the pads engage, it's there but it's a lot more subtle than most brakes. I think it comes down to preference more than anything, the Intends have similar power to the above but provide that feedback, which is why I preferred them.

Wasn't the initial issue with Dale's Maven review the fact that multiple setup steps outlined in the instructions were skipped and the resulting review was very negative based precisely on the negative experience said instructions generally prevent? I.e. lack of RTFM leading to a negative experience causing a negative review?

Why would 1 need clearance for 2.3mm rotors? The current 2mm design is pretty dialed in already and goes up to 220mm size. Only thing I can think they need to change - even more power, not because it needs it, but for bragging rights against Trickstuff and Intend! 😁
