I’m pretty sure it was a performance thing that someone else corroborated. The whole Lewis thing has really highlighted how little TS has done to “improve” (not that they need it) their brakes… except for black of course 🤦 And that rubs a bit too.

The trickstuff cncd handlebar clamp is shit, I have 4 broken ones in a box. One snapped indoors just sitting around, one snapped when I got to the trail unloading the bike (NOT touching the brake, just "pop"). Both of these must have been tension+warm then cold, or vice versa. One when I hit the ground in a national enduro race, not a big crash in any way. And one in a proper crash. Got tired of reaching out to Trickstuff who did send me new ones for the first two so Ive just keep buying new ones from R2...

I got the Maxima with the coated Goodridge hoses which are 6mm. It didnt pass the internal hose routing tunnels on the Specialized Enduro so I had to get the thinner beta hoses for the rear. In that process I somehow ruptured the membrane in the lever. It might have been by sucking too much vaccum or applying too much...

specialized saddles are some of the best. I know enough people who pick them over wtb, ergon etc

Yeah those Roval rims are pretty decent and backed by Specialized warranty. Their ally ones aren’t great though

I own those Roval Traverse HD and they are actually very good! The ride quality compares to Crank Brothers Synthesis carbon wheels with different front and rear carbon layup. People usually scoff at house brand wheels but I have been very happy with the 3 sets of Rovals I have for the different bikes. DT hubs, DT spokes, good rim...

I love Norco but Canadian Santa Cruz is gonna be a stretch, and should they even shoot for that? $1,500 Fluids, flat bar gravel/commuter bikes and even a steel gravel bike. These are all awesome! I’ll prolly never sell my road bike (2018 Search with a dropper and flat bars) because it only cost $450 to begin with! But, part of the Santa Cruz brand is you can only have it on your downtube if you pony up. It's bling to some extent. (100% bling on the Vala with it being crab link) The other aspects of Santa Cruz that...

There's no shortage of Ranges in my neck of the woods, which makes sense because my neck of the woods is British Columbia, where there's plenty of Norco dealers and the current Range makes a bundle more sense for the average "enthusiast" level rider in a two bike quiver than the Shore or a bunch of other options. I don't think you're right in statement that it was "never going to be a bike racers actually used in enduro". Maybe it's not the bike that the pros use, but roll up to any enduro race in BC and you're guaranteed...

I appreciate how quickly commenters went for the Vala's throat. Not that we were any better with respect to the Vala/Crestline comparison. I am quite interested to see what Deviate does with the kinematics on this one. I'm a big fan of the Claymore and VPP seems like it could be quite a departure, while retaining the rearward axle path. Deviate is typically rather open with their numbers and hopefully this is no exception. They shrunk the Large a bit which is probably wise, the Claymore in large is a 490mm reach, which I am on at 6' 2" rather...

The clear best solution is to just make water-cooled capable calipers. Water gets cycled through by a pump driven by a little baby pulley wheel on the outside edge of the rotors.

Yup, any time you have to cross a boundary between 2 different parts the heat transfer will be much slower. Thermal compound would help but ideally the surfaces need to be machined or lapped as flat as possible which just adds another expense. Would be interesting to compare how much these help versus something like a little duct that channeled air through the calliper instead

Yeah, to me they seam to copy Shimano with the fins now. Slight alterations of the original Trickstuff's Maxim'a and the fins now added too. I'll wait for the reviews online to decide weather i'll will buy them or Hopetech V4, i can't make up my mind yet.

tech 4 V4 are actually more powerful than the maxima on the dyno, the maven feel very powerful because of the impressive initial bite, although power is nothing without control which Hope and Trickstuff seem to excel with

Fat tires has been my use case for these bike TPMS. I currently use SKS Airspy with +-1% accuracy for enduro fat biking where 0.5 PSI difference matters and you have to adjust pressure each lap. I start off with roughly 8-9 PSI for the forest road climb and then release a bunch of air while looking at my Garmin...

At 70% travel there is a singularity which allows your spring force to simultaneously be three different values. Some hypothesize that if you can push past 70% travel you will bridge spacetime and land in a parallel universe.
