10/12/2023 3:24pm Virtually every shop I have ever been in: “We don’t have that at the moment, but we can order it for you.” I can order it too, and it’ll come straight to my house. I’m going to install it myself anyway regardless of where it was purchased. Why would I make a second trip? Complete bikes are the same. I’m going to go over your build with a fine tooth comb, so why wouldn’t I just build it myself from the get-go. I don’t understand people arguing so hard to support brick and mortar just because that is the long...

10/12/2023 1:47pm Just about every brand now sells direct, coming from a Yeti dealer and 10+ year industry employee, it's the way the industry has been going for years, you dont adapt you get passed. Yeti can offer a better retail price (getting below Specialized MSRP) and lots of Yeti customers will still go to a shop as that is just the type of consumer they are. Don't think it will be a huge difference in the long game

10/12/2023 12:48pm Five minutes after watching that and my hands are still sweating. I would love to see a rampage winning run that DOESNT include flippy spinny things. Seems like if brendog can put it all together he may have a chance.

10/12/2023 12:47pm press release from yeti about going direct below Yeti Cycles Goes Direct Golden, CO – Early this fall, Yeti Cycles began selling bikes directly to consumers on its site, Yeticycles.com, allowing riders to choose how they want to purchase: directly from Yeti, at an authorized Yeti dealer, or through their online partners. Yeti’s commitment to independent dealers remains steadfast. Bike shops are critical in building local communities, supporting youth engagement, advocating for local trail access, and keeping bikes running smoothly, and Yeti will continue to support dealers in strategic ways. One example is the deployment of Locally on Yeti’s site...

10/11/2023 2:57pm Funny. I almost started a very similar thread. Just so we are clear, I tried to distill Bruni's rant into one hypothesis. Please clean this up if I'm wrong... Hypothesis: If you cut the field to a more elite group you will be able to put on a better race with better TV qualities which will amount to higher dollar sponsors for those at the top. Listening to Bruni walk us through his logic I have to say, I do not agree. I've heard similar things for more than 2 decades, and it doesn't seem to me that this is...

10/11/2023 2:56pm DH will never achieve mainstream viewership. It's more boring than baseball if you're not a dedicated fan. Anyone who tells you DH is about to "break through" is selling you a bridge. The Rampage broadcast could achieve mainstream viewership in theory, but the way they broadcast it live is SOOOOOO long and boring, and it's a just once-a-year event which makes it hard for people to attach to. As it sits, watching a live Rampage broadcast is a mix of boredom, white hot panic, and frustration.

10/11/2023 1:30pm I’d like to see it run 100 in qualifying, 30 in finals, NO protected riders, NO WC overall points for qualification. big dogs would have to slow down to make sure they qualify (without flat tires crashing etc) and then you have another 70-80 guys sending it to make it into the final. Still gives plenty of chances for privateers to make the final and trims the final down to 30 which is good for TV. also a lot more simple rules and points which is important when the governing body can’t follow their own regulations

10/11/2023 10:39am Nukeproof has a rider at Rampage for the first time ever, check out this super sick custom Dissent they created for DJ Brandt: ------------------------------------------------- We're sending DJ Brandt to Red Bull Rampage with a one-of-a-kind Nukeproof Dissent downhill bike inspired by DJ's favorite hip-hop groups. Flatbush Zombies, $uicideboy$, and Mac Miller adorn the hand-painted freeride rig. This Dissent carbon frame features a bold design, incorporating Flatbush Zombies lyrics throughout its frame. Huge thanks to Jonathan Bradley at Elite Refinish for the excellent paintwork. The bike's striking graphics pay homage to the street aesthetic while maintaining a sleek and functional build...

10/11/2023 7:22am Wind has always been an issue. Hitting big stuff like that, wind always makes things tough. The reason it is more pronounced now is the TV schedule. There have always been delays due to wind and judging but 10 years ago, it was not broadcast live and less time restrictions on the riders to drop so everyone was able to...

9/19/2023 1:37pm Wait, now there is a bubble!? LOL. My gawd this thread is pure comedy. Next to some pageview data, there is next to nothing quantifiable or qualitative here of note. No leaked emails, no internal data that is evidence the hypothesis may be true. Somebody tap me on the shoulder when I can come on a podcast and rant on this one. Love talking bikes & business, but this is missing the mark on a number of levels.

9/15/2023 7:28am Dylan stark is a phenomenal rider in certain regards. He can step to very impressive single feature moves (i.e., Moreno Valley). He does not, however, have the refined braking and fine bike control skills necessary for a legit Rampage run. It was evident last year. He was tentative and lacked flow across his run compared to everyone else. This will be unpopular, but he doesn’t deserve to be there (yet).
