When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

Cut ‘em. Give me a 90 minute broadcast of top 20 men and top 10 women on tracks that feature more range in technicality (ie bus stops, ultra tech, high speed sections, jumps/rhythms, and sections that exemplify cornering prowess). Make the junior category a category that gives riders 5 years to point out of, sort of like the 250 class in moto. If you can’t cut it in the b category and get enough points to race elites, then you have to go back to being a national/continental racer. This category would ideally be designed for riders ages 17-22 (u23...

There is a growing scene here. While things were regressing about 12-15 years ago, the last 7+ have seen major growth. We went from zero bike parks to five (two government-funded), loads of trail centers, a few "official," but most not so official, and government-funded pump tracks. The number of riders has been increasing, yet the mountain bike race scene has been dying. But that's more of an issue with event organizers seeing gran fondos as exponentially more profitable. Riders would love to have a proper race series again, rather than just a few events a year, and this is...

probaby unpopular opinion, but i find champery to be fairly unexciting to watch due to the large number of berm/180 corners and lower speeds (which i know are mind-bogglingly fast for the actual track itself). the few sections where they're opened up for a moment and hitting stuff are great...that quick off-camber grass section into that left is rad. jackson's POV did a solid job of showing how insanely steep it is. i doubt i could even get down that track in one piece on bike or feet, but from a not-in-person, side-of-the-track viewing standpoint, it's a miss for me...

securing the location may have to do with a rumored multinational conglomerate sponsor from the area founded in 1938.

Nino is in the same category as Greg Minnaar for me -- taking victories across what otherwise might be considered entirely separate generations or eras of racing. Gonna be hard for anyone to ever match that kind of longevity. A well-earned retirement.

UCI world rankings are based on a yearly rolling total. So each month sees points added and taken away as they expire. The WC rankings I believe begin with the first race and end at the last.

I've been playing around with listening to the gaps between the top 10 finishers at World Cup DH races. The aim is to make them a bit more concrete and understandable than the usual big list of numbers that typically makes up a results sheet. You can see/hear the resulting tool here: https://www.sounds-like-dh.co.uk Grateful for any thoughts!

The problem with other ways to get race experience for US juniors is there are no tracks as steep and technical as in Europe. So for a US junior it would take a ton of money and time to get to Europe and learn the steepness and the technicality where the European Jrs live there and have easy access. I know for myself, if my son had not been on a factory team as a junior, the transition to elite would have been very difficult without near the success. I think at least for the US riders who now have...

Regarding " And we are losing people perfectly capable of winning the race on race day from participating..." this one is interesting to me. If they are perfectly capable of winning on race day, then they are surely capable of qualifying for one of the 30 spots. A few other people have expressed the same opinion "but we are losing some of the fast guys now..." which seems to imply that the new qualifying format is somehow putting some of the fast guys at a disadvantage? I think there's definitely a generational shift going on, and many of the riders...
