8/3/2026 1:10pm Frame looks like a bonded aluminum construction similar to what Frameworks was playing around with. That headtube looks familiar but can’t I remember where I’ve seen it.

8/3/2026 6:10am I think the same review (tanihwa review maybe?) that mentioned the shifting with a servo motor under full power on the assembly line also mentioned that you could preload a shift and it would click in when you let off the pedals. That doesn't work with electronic shifting though, just like regular shifting, with a cable you have a lot...

8/1/2026 10:25pm Yeah, I recall hearing the same thing, several years ago, when the only shifter option was a twist shifter. Supposedly the gearbox could handle power shifts, and it was just that the shifter couldn't generate enough force. That was before the electronic shifting became an option, and I'd thought they promised that once the electronic arrived, you could shift at full power, but perhaps the servo motors that the ended up using weren't powerful enough to get the shift to complete (unlike the servos that they use for assembly line testing).

8/1/2026 10:31pm I think it was mentioned a few years ago in a Pinion equipped bike review on Pinkbike. That's all I remember but this was specifically mentioned. Also this was in the days of gripshift only, before they made the electronic shifting option. @TheKaiser mentioned the same thing. As I remember it (or as I expect to be) their EOL testing...

8/1/2026 11:56am I always let up before shifting, it's just good practice. As for Pinion, apparently it's limited in the shifting mechanism power, not pedal power. On their assembly line they shift it with an external servo motor under full load without problems.

7/31/2026 9:11pm Racing bros makes terrible seals....I almost always find actual dirt inside forks that have had RB seals fitted, and are more likely to cause damage and wear than factory seals so if you have the option I would always go SKF, no question! They are low friction for sure but it seems thats onyl because they do very little actual sealing.... Also, once again Fox does not put excessive grease in their air springs and are probably under-greasing them this year! They do however draw bath oil in to the negative spring, and its larger than the amount of grease...

7/31/2026 12:08pm It's a single linkage. The purpose is to put more strain on the downtube and introduce extra welds that take the full shock loads so they'll fatigue over time.

7/31/2026 12:07pm FWIW, the way wiper seals work is they seal better with increased pressure in the lowers. The lip is pushed into the stanchion from the pressure behind the seal.

7/31/2026 4:01am That's my understanding of how it works, although I don't know whether the number e13 quotes is additive (as DT's must be, since it has a 0° setting) or the maximum in that setting. I'm much less certain about that now that I know the minimum setting isn't an effective zero. I think freewheeling drag should be enough to hold the DF ring at the far end of its float range. At the end of the day the numbers themselves probably don't matter as much as the feel, though. To answer FrontRangeFriend's original question, IMO all of this makes DT...

7/31/2026 4:00am If I'm reading the e-13 website correctly the sidekick 2 is 60POE. Which is 6deg. So it's 9-15deg? DT DF in 10deg is 10-14? (10 degrees of float + 0-4 for the 90POE cassette. Although I have read arguments that it's more like 5-9 because the DF points sit in the middle of the 10 when coasting. My math might be way off here.... I have a DT350 36 tooth on a different wheel and it feels very similar to my DF in the 10deg setting although I've not done actual back to back style comparisons.

7/31/2026 3:54am FWIW, SL motors are "self made" in Asia, but designed and industrialised (assembly line designed, ordered and tested) by MAHLE. After everything was tested and confirmed to be working (the assembly line), it was shipped to Asia.

7/30/2026 10:23am The patent was never actually granted. It was issued a non-final rejection based on being an obvious combination of prior art. If you don't respond to that within a certain window the patent office considers it abandoned. So anyone that wants can have at it.

7/29/2026 10:14pm Yeah I went and checked and see it's the same. This is terrible. Not only are you stuck with a bunch of non-standard parts you can only get from the company that sold you the bike, you're also stuck with what is essentially a 35T chainring. Fine on a DH bike I guess, but on an enduro bike that's supposed...
