Magnus Manson has moved from Norco to Forbidden. He kept showing stripes on his bike on IG that are the exact ones used on the new Dreadnought design released today.

In fact that'll be a video about the Chloé's journey from BMX to EWS. Less interesting for this thread, but I'll see it with pleasure anyway Smile

Definitely margins. I assume that’s why so many brands aren’t offering much in aluminum. I think we will also see a lot of bikes previously with gx and slx come with deore at the same price.

I think people are tripping because they're looking at the frame-only price with a Push or EXT shock, but that's not really an apples-to-apples comparison. Frame-only for a Megatower is $3400 with a Fox X2, which is basically the same thing as $3500 for the Dreadnought with an X2. The price is high, but it's not out of sync with the industry.

For pricing - it's not that bad if you've looked at pricing lately - it's creeping up with Covid and the shipping quagmires. A Rocky Altitude is $3860, and a Yeti SB150 is $3900. This bike ain't cheap, but for a small brand, and given the complexity and presumed small volumes, I'd say it's fair. Anyway, there are loads of good budget options out there if that's more your flavor.

My experience is all on a Druid, so take that into account. The rebound damping on the rear ends up being very light. I'm 170lbs on a large Druid and run 1 click from open on the stock DPX2 and the 2021 X2. On black tech trails the rear end reacts swiftly, but doesn't overreact, if you get my meaning. It's controlled without feeling dead. As you unweight to exit a turn, the rear end tucks back in and it's ready for the next thing. On jump trails, I was worried about getting bucked on deep landings due to the...

In response to the PB article published this morning about the Shimano wireless system, we wrote an article on Jan. 11th about the patent filing on this new tech. There's way more information on the system in this article. We even show a wireless fork system they're developing. "Unfortunately, the juiciest parts of the applications, including pictures of the components being approved, are hidden...the confidentiality agreement between Shimano and the FCC prevents us from seeing exactly what's going on here..." We have pictures and you can see wtf is going on in my article! Check this out! https://wheelbased.com/2021/01/11/bicycle-electric-telescopic-apparatus-power-supply-and-electric-component-by-shimano/

The drag part of the equation can be solved with the Shimano patent solution - gears and chains. Everything else will be draggy by design. Realistically I only see Shimano ushering in gearboxes, nobody else will have the reach to convince the industry to completely rethink frame design and manufacturing, that will be the biggest hurdle for gearboxes if you ask me, much more than drag and market perception. E-bikes had the option of squeezing in the gearbox (add it to the mid drive unit) very simply, but that train was also missed.

I am not going to speak on behalf of Primoz, but the ancient druids of the mtb practiced the the arts of maintenance, which has been thougt to be forgotten some time in the 2010's. There may be some scrolls hidden on deep into the search results in the Great Maze of the Google.

I wouldn't really care. All suspension is so good these days and I suspect the big teams have a lot of say about what custom dampers they get etc.
