5/29/2025 3:42pm This is the best take I’ve read on the subject so far. Hopefully lessons are learned, and all of us (Amaury included) can put it in the past.

5/29/2025 12:42pm Can I patent the ole one eye squint? For real tho, equalizing the gap on each side between the sanctions and bars is way easier than aligning the stem with the tire.

5/29/2025 12:39pm There are a few brands reselling that same kit - maybe a team sponsor? They're pretty decent though and I've got one in the drawers too. If I was on a team half my toolbox would be ali express gear - anything thats consumable or easily lost I'm not paying big money for. Certain tools need to be decent, but for the rest of them I would rather always have a brand new EZmtb tool ready to go than a worn out "genuine" one that doesn't do the job any better

5/29/2025 12:37pm i just want to make one last comment re: deleting pics, community etc then i'll be quiet. over the last few years, i've become very aware of how much of a privilege it is to be a part of a community that is supported by some of the best brands in our game. but the key word here is community...YOU all are the community. without you and your sleuthing, your knowledge, your stoke for the sport and its equipment, or your informed opinions, vital wouldn't be very special. with that said, if all vital does is bow down to brands...

5/29/2025 4:26am It's Schrodinger's line, both legal and illegal at the same time. I think the blame falls firmly on the UCI. 1. Courses need to be clearly defined. Without that enforcement is subjective at best. If Amaury did this same line in practice and qualis, the UCI delegates should have brought it up sooner. 2. Rules need to be clear and...

5/29/2025 4:20am if the rules and enforcement of the rules go out the window, then why compete? the wind got sucked out of enduro often b/c of the easy ability to cut the course without penalty. lack of basic rule enforcement is hardly a recipe for a sport to be taken as seriously as the olybet PR makes WC sound. crazy that world cup DH racing (what i thought was the most simple and objective form of MTB competition) has so much subjectivity lately. lack of consistency in course boundaries, the idea that because you crashed doesn't mean you deserve a re-run...

5/29/2025 4:19am THIS. and it was kind of an underlying narrative in the recent B line podcast, where Dak just barely missed the inside pole or whatever... and chose to pull off and hike up. but if this is the officiating we can expect... and pulling off is probly guaranteed 0 or close to 0 points... the UCI has just plastered a banner to all riders that says 'send it and let god sort em out'. typically, integrity should be enough of a reward to stay inside the poles. but if cheaters get rewarded, then you've ruined the delicate balance of doing...

5/28/2025 4:22pm Then you need to tighten the preload 1/4 turn - headsets are one thing people often don't tighten enough, and do need a minimum amount of tension to function properly. That goes for all brands, although CK will probably feel loose more than others which can have no play but still not enough preload. Those can still move in use though and cause some gnarly gouges on the steerer. A headset shouldn't be completely frictionless - theres no need and it means all the surfaces aren't fully in contact. A slightly loose bearing is far worse than a slightly tight...

5/28/2025 4:02pm Totally support this - it sucks when people who have been given privileged information choose to leak it just so they can feel cool - We all complain when dealers aren't properly informed on launch day, but info getting out in advance can be really damaging in certain situations. So when it gets leaked it just makes it harder the next time, around since the brand has to tighten up what that put out. And what do people gain by knowing about a thing a few days early? nothing......

5/28/2025 4:02pm Can we at least get a [post deleted for embargo reasons] or something, as a placeholder? It would make the forum threads a lot less confusing. Your backend is in php right? I'd do it for free!

5/28/2025 3:59pm Assuming that Cathro's speaking the truth, the UCI basically just proved that racers should keep going if they go out of the course. They might not get penalized if they even get caught.

5/27/2025 10:54am We had a request for clarification pop up on the post, here's the answer from Öhlins with some more details around the changes being discussed in the press release above: The new surface treatment has reduced friction, and the compression damping base tune has been backed off a little. As a result, the fork feels softer. To compensate, the spring curve has been made a little bit more progressive, through the addition of spacers in the ramp-up chamber (yes, it's still the same, 3-chambner design). The "booster" they mention is some kind of insert or spacer that reduces the volume...

5/27/2025 10:52am Apologies if I missed this discussion, but I’m very curious to know what smarter people than me think about the Rallon’s low anti-squat. As someone who has been planning to get a new enduro bike and DH bike over the next 12 months, I find this bike very appealing. However, I love big backcountry days on the enduro bike, and I’m worried this bike won’t be particularly good for that without an electronic shock to compensate for the anti-squat. Anyone else having similar thoughts? On a related note, good on Orbea for not glossing over this compromise and formally addressing...

5/27/2025 6:56am Hans Rey is going to be like those Japanese soldiers who didn’t believe World War II was over until the 70s. He’ll still be going to trade shows and doing trials routines wearing a full blue and yellow outfit in 2035.

5/27/2025 5:48am Many companies are trying to get away from DOT and other chemicals due to EU regulations. I believe that is one of the factors in SRAM switching to mineral oil.
