6/24/2025 1:09pm I don't know if that glide-core(?) technology in the new air spring is as necessary in the 38 because the air spring is contained in its own sleeve not the sanction. I believe the sleeve was actually fox's original solution to the binding problem the new air spring looks to solve. It obviously just weighs a bit more.

6/23/2025 12:55pm Your onto something, but I just refuse to believe that someone wearing an all white kit, googles and half shelf, with a hip pack, on a DH bikes, knows much of fuck all. Jokes and fashion aside, Rulezman is a knowledgeable dude, and I appreciate what he brings to the sport, but this is just totally unnecessary. The absolute best way to measure sag, is to use a telemetry system like BYB and look at dynamic ride height. Second to that, seated on level ground, cos its free and repeatable, and tune from there.

6/23/2025 12:54pm A lot of good thoughts here, but just to play devil's advocate, have we considered the possibility that he's right and we're all stupid and everyone in the bike industry has collectively been doing it wrong for 30-40 years and he alone can tell us the answer and it requires buying this expensive new product from his webstore? I mean at least consider it, is what I'm saying.

6/23/2025 12:51pm No, we haven’t been measuring sag wrong. Any method of measuring sag that is repeatable is an acceptable way to measure sag. As it is something that must be tuned as opposed to setting to a specific percentage, being able to repeatably measure sag is the most important thing. You can do this seated and measuring at the shock just fine. If someone wants to measure it with a whole bunch of kit that’s fine, but telling everyone they are wrong and do it wrong is silly. It is definitely worth noting that on more progressive bikes you shouldn’t be...

6/23/2025 6:51am An EXTREMELY simplified explanation of why video gets blurred: The more detail in an image, the more data is required to describe that image. There's a limit to how much data cameras can capture in real time, how much they can send in "real time," how much broadcasters can send in "real time," how much internet service providers can receive and send in "real time," and how much your TV provider can send in "real time." The downstream folks tell the upstream folks how much they can handle. The on-site broadcast is assembled in real-time and sent to the folks...

I am a bad person lol Troy cementing himself as a all round GOAT, blokes a dad, should be home mowing the lawn in New Balances, instead he is taming the wildest track on earth a bees dick away from the win.

6/22/2025 1:37pm Just watched the Vital Raw for VDS day one and I really like what they've done with the track. In years past it's seemingly gone straight down the fall line and been mega fast and rough, and it seems like they're switchbacking and traversing more. Still very technical, definitely not easy, especially with the dust, but less deadly. Obviously not safe (Anna N. & Sam G.), but safer. I remember the 2012 track that Gwin won by almost eight seconds looked like it was straight down the hill with one brief little tight section.

6/22/2025 9:16am You are so lost in the sauce. Like 4 different people gave great explanations of how flex stays work and you dismissed every single one, but want a "data driven discussion" when you can't comprehend a literal Microsoft paint diagram. Now you don't like "buzzy undamped coil spring", this is comedy gold. @CascadeComponents Can i formally apologize for this member of the forum and please say come back to discuss things with us Vital users that don't have a crayon missing from the box.

6/21/2025 3:53pm Regardless of whether any given frame member is in tension or compression, for the flex stay to move as a joint in the suspension the shock must also move. Thinking about it as a torsion spring, if you say at full compression the spring is wound up its maximum amount, for it to unwind the shock must extend. The extension of the shock is controlled by rebound damping so the unwinding of the torsion spring is also controlled by that rebound damping

6/21/2025 3:49pm I think a lot of people get caught up in viewing the shock and spring as one unit. You can look at them as separate entities and the impact of a flex stay makes more sense. The total spring forcing the bike back to top of travel is the combination of the flex stay and the spring on the shock. The damper controls rebound of the entire rear end, so as long as the rebound tune is good for the combined spring rate you’re good.

6/21/2025 11:10am It really depends on the flex stay design. Some stays have more rebound than others. You'll notice newer designs from Cannondale and Rocky Mountain with a thinned out portion to minimize this spring effect. These frames don't need special shock tunes AFAIK. I have the flexstay stumpjumper which has a pretty beefy stay so Specialized used a digressive tune on the DPS shock to tame it. I tried a off the shelf Fox Float and the snap back was too much.

6/21/2025 11:08am I just received my 2nd order of Pendulums. Outlier updated them a bit since the first batch - they have new sealed bearings that spin better and should require less frequent maintenance, and the body has been reshaped a little for better self-leveling. Pins are now M4 with smooth tip. I never had problems with stepping on the wrong side in my hundreds miles on them, but these updates may be very welcome by some. They sent me replacement bearings not only for the new order but also for the original 1st set, free of charge. Bottom line - they...

6/21/2025 11:03am I designed this so happy to answer any questions on it. Its actually as stiff as the stock countercycle mount (probably stiffer with the 4 points of contact at the fork) carbon reinforced plastics are pretty stiff with the right infill and wall thickness, also sometimes you have to use the tools at you disposal, if i owned a cnc Id probably do something different
