I’m constantly shocked I don’t see more Propains in the US, especially with the value and how everyone watches Remy. Maybe Propain got their US business up and running after the irons cooled (2022 right?). Feels like 1/3 of all the bikes I saw at the bike park today were YTs. “Cult brand” is a positive in the US too (Banshee, Knolly) but YT is for sure mainstream here.

I like "emotional support vehicle". Regular Car Reviews once referred to them as "men's rights trucks".

At least one poster on DC Rainmaker's Instagram mentioned that there is prior art to Strava segments, and some of it is owned by Garmin. As DC Rainmaker pointed out, 1. Garmin doesn't lose lawsuits. 2. Strava is highly reliant on Garmin for data, and that is especially true of paid Strava users.

This whole lawsuit is bizarre to me. One of the most insane cases of biting the hand that feeds, I'd imagine that over 75% of Strava users are importing ride/run data from a Garmin device. Strava's whole model is an aggregate that is reliant on third party metrics being imported in. Garmin could put the plug right now and make people choose between a device/software that accurately tracks multiple key metrics for training, or a glorified social media platform. I think the anyone with a pulse will take Garmin over Strava. Lest we forget last year when Strava bullied Trailforks...

Have you seen this? https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/10/strava-sues-garmin-demands-stop-sel… What seems to be the key part on segments is: "Now, what’s notable here is that Strava existed (with users creating segments) from 2009, and thus, it’s a bit strange that Strava had a two-year gap here before they got around to filing a patent on it. This is well beyond the typical 1-year grace period that the US PTO would allow for delays in filing a patent after public disclosure." If the patent isn't upheld then you could be ok. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I just gotta say, as far as mtb online community contributions to the lexicon go... crab link is way better then downcountry. Feels the right amount of "inside baseball" and too far out there for the masses to absorb. Feel like this is going to be one of those if you know you know inside jokes for a long time to come. You guys should be satisfied with yourselves lol.

Love that Forbiddens latest email pays true homage to the Crab link: "Still wondering what the f**** we’re on about with all the crab stuff? A theory exists called Carcinisation wherein all non-crab crustaceans evolve a crab-like body plan. A very clever Vital MTB user noticed how many mountain bikes brands had evolved towards the same form and linkage lay out. He declared that this new evolution of bike layouts be named the crab link. And many pages of crab jokes followed. It’s an obscure and very inside joke. But hey, now you’re in on it too." Trend setters we...

You can find photos of Finn dragging the link thru the ground. It was a pretty clear problem for the race team let alone a bike you intend to sell to the public. For me the redesign takes it from a bike I’d have zero interest in owning to a bike I simply probably can’t afford.

My observation about damping vs spring is, When I've been off the bike for a while I feel like I need more spring rate or the bike feels like it sinks into holes and feels too soft. Without enough trail speed (and therefore low damper shaft speed), the damping can't generate force to hold up and provide support. As I...

Wanted to say this too. If you’re Loic or Jackson you have some freedom (but not unlimited freedom) to change damper architecture and get the feel you want, but most of us mere mortals are boxed in by our forks and shocks regarding how stiff or soft we can go on damping, before they get too harsh or too open. And there’s a lot of crosstalk between compression, rebound, high speed, and low speed. What I’m saying is that most of the time the tail is wagging the dog to an extent when any of us are trying to set...

Yes. Contracts are bilateral - they hold both sides to the terms set out. YT failing to pay would almost certainly be a material breach of contact, terminating the agreement and freeing the riders from their oblations as defined in the contract. We've already seen Osin race in unbranded kit so at least one rider views their contract as terminated.

Saw on IG that Dak picked up the win at the US Open today.. Considering how hard his recovery has been, it was good to see him win.. Maybe give him a bit of a boost going into Lake Placid and MSA..

I hope Dak is not on gwin racing purely from a pay standpoint. Can’t imagine Aaron is in a position to offer our boy what he deserves

I think this just an artifact of Dak being the only Mondraker rider at the US Open. He probably doesn't mind racing the 'privateer' life for one event to be able to have his own personal van and dog with him for the remaining World Cup rounds. I'm sure he'll be back with the team in New York. I mean unless something really weird went down and even if he is ultimately leaving, he is under contract until the end of the year I would presume.
