I’ve been on the “give them time to figure it out” train regarding the broadcast commentary but last nights race was painful. We’re 3 seasons in so there’s really no excuse. Having Neko in the booth was a band aid solution at best. I can’t help but wonder why they haven’t addressed this? Does nobody want the job? I know this is a long shot but imagine having wyn and ed masters in the booth who know the riders personally and have both charisma and race experience.

I kinda gotta give it to Bosch for not feeling the pressure and going beyond 750watts. 120nm seems sensible with the 600%. 12A charging will be nice If you forget or do a big morning and want to charge back up during lunch - im actually considering getting the 600wh battery to drop 1k/2.2lbs however they are still expensive just for 1kg.

I made my last post when I was generally frustrated with life. Sorry about that. Most of you are probably still not going to agree with me, but I'll try again and then shut up. I think it's really, really important our community talks about whatever these two-wheeled machines with 800% assist and enormous torque/power actually are, and I don't want to stifle that occurring in this thread. I hope this thread gets a lot of traction and I learn something about why others feel so differently than me. Finally, apologies for waxing a bit philosophical. Honor, or whatever you...

Along with not being called out for causing any incidents (so far), I mean the dude has a single finger for braking and beat hardtail guy by ~90 seconds. The rider that took the longest to cross the line was... Dak. As far as I know he caused no incidents to other riders all weekend. It seems that the true issue causing problems in this scenario wasn't necessarily the bike type, how many fingers you have, or how many times you crashed... More so what resides between the ears. And how you can use it to safely navigate a course...

I bought an EXe when they first came out and bought a second battery at the same time. Back then, you could purchase a second battery for a couple hundred dollars more than the range extender. They weren't really anticipating people doing this. You had to separately buy all the brackets to attach to the battery to attach it to the frame. I think the pricing spread has moved substantially. If you ride places where it's common to cruise back by the trailhead during the ride, this setup is amazing. I also picked up a power station on black Friday...

Grassroots pioneerism that leads to someone breaking into the sport and getting a good result is what I care about, and I would argue what most of the community cares about. He's not participating in the event to race and improve his riding in the hopes of getting to the level where he can compete at the top, to him it's a fun little exhibition.

It was a publicity stunt because he knew he wouldn't qualify. May as well have worn a banana suit in his seeding run.

I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

Fazua doesn't really bother me anymore. I have over 700 miles on mine and its still ticking. It did arrive dead out of the box and in the US, QBP handles the service and they are wonderful. I don't think they are as bad as they used to be. Plus, power to weight wise they are really hard to beat. I would love for a manufacture to work on making a motor that is the size and weight of the Fazua that would make 80-85nm instead of working on making a million-nm motor.

The F1 comparisons don't really make any sense beyond the fact that both are the pointy end of things. Unlike on pavement, ABS does not necessarily reduce stopping distance on loose surfaces. It can actually increase stopping distance in many scenarios. I honestly believe running ABS in a DH race would be detrimental more than anything. Trophy trucks would probably be a better analogy in this regard.

Yeah, as someone who does HR based zone-oriented training a <32t is pretty amazing when i need to haul a heavy bike up something in zone 2. Sure I could ignore what I'm trying to accomplish on that ride and muscle my way up things and blow myself up in the process, but that's not always what you need to be doing. And yes, I do go to a gym. My guess is that people who are saying "real bikers only need 32t" haven't actually ever followed a formal training plan, which tend to involve a lot of time in...

The first race of the World Cup Downhill season means plenty of new things to try. Rick Schubert looks scouts the tech in South Korea to find everything from Reece's crazy setup to anti-lock brakes to prototype goods. Go fast, takes chances (with your tech). The stem heard 'round the world. Gamux going all in. Local race success has us wondering how it'll fair in the big leagues. Only out-of-the-box thing missing is a 32-inch wheel. FOX on the grind. ABS brakes on Giant Factory bikes? We're listening... Commencal Muc-Off tidy as always. Make your own "internal" routing. Loic's new...

Just purchased my first e-bike after all my ridding buddies made the switch to eebs over the past 2 years. By being the last holdout, I was able to ride the gamut of motor options (Shimano, Bosch, TQ) and I settled on a TQ bike (Yeti MTE). For me, full fat eebs felt awkward, clumsy and over powered on our tight singletrack. In the right situations, the power was addicting (fire road climbs) but for 90% of our rides it was total overkill. For me, the choice was easy once I realized that I preferred more of an “assisted” ride...

I want more of a mtb feel. Not interested in pedal throttle. At all. Did that last week in SantaCruz and felt like a douche (not that DJI people are, just how I felt)on a bike I was trying. I was going to buy a new Crestline but decided no, rather ride my Relay as long as it is working! Or until some real mtb company builds something similar but better.
