1/21/2025 1:43pm Well, I have seen discussions of it also having something to do that when they produce a frame - They become a OEM competitor. If they dont produce one, they might be able to sell wheels to OEM's for full builds. (Just something I read in some forum somwhere, cant remember where) But, most likely since pricing has been discussed. It seems like the Arrival frames were priced at similar prices to other manufacturers framesets - Around $4k (Santa Cruz, Rocky Mountain, Yeti) etc. Same price, but produced in Canada, probably makes their profit on the frames way worse. I...

1/21/2025 8:54am Sorry to hear about the issue with your frame Kusa, that's a bummer, but glad things are being handled under warranty. FYI, Rocky Mountain paints replacement/warranty frame parts to match in it's Saint-Georges, QC, offices, not the BC one. There's a massive warehouse there with a paint shop which allows to colour match frames as needed. We can usually match anything still under warranty (so 5 years, sometimes more). As for shipping, Rocky Mountain has a bunch of parts and warranty orders ready to ship, but due to the restructuring proceedings, we are working with our different courriers to be...

1/21/2025 8:55am So I am certainly not retained by the shop (will sue people for bikes), nothing he told me raised a flag to an extent that I thought they had a legal dispute on their hands, at least not at this point - although like you, I am not a bankruptcy expert. It seems that Rocky is operating under the control...

1/21/2025 6:48am I mentioned this on the pod, but I’m not a bankruptcy expert by any means. That said, I’d be very surprised if creditors could somehow alter previously existing contracts between various parties. While it’s possible there’s a specific covenant allowing for this, I’d find it highly unlikely. On the other hand, it doesn’t surprise me at all that creditors are pursuing accounts receivable. That’s typically how they aim to recover a significant portion of the outstanding debt, as they (the debt holders) are first in line to be repaid. If I were your friend, I’d consider retaining legal counsel if...

1/21/2025 6:48am I tried to unpack this on the pod, but it’s important to clarify that just because a buyer like PON enters the picture, it doesn’t automatically mean things will go sideways or that PON is inherently a bad actor. I could dive deeper into the pros and cons of companies like this, but there seems to be an alignment of incentives with PON. They don’t appear to divest from businesses frequently, which suggests they have a longer-term perspective. That doesn’t guarantee they’ll always get it right, but I imagine they’ve learned from their experiences—both their setbacks and successes—with other brands...

1/20/2025 5:23pm The news "leaked" almost a year ago but you can find comments that it happened well before then. Can't blame you for missing it though, OneUp seems intent on keeping it quiet so they can trick consumers into thinking they're just 29 nice guys up in Squamish and your money is all staying locally.

1/19/2025 3:07pm Shaun Palmer hated shorts. But loved team rumors. Rumor I heard was spec gravity were off magura brakes. But no idea where they'd go! Maybe Mavens seen as they are officially SRAM sponsored again since last year for drive train? Also wondering if their gen s team will be at all world cups or Will they do a hybrid plan of select national/continental and world cups?

1/19/2025 3:07pm Congrats to Bailey Goldstone on 3rd this weekend at NZ DH national series round 2. From what I understand from the new rules, because this race was part of the UCI continental series and in the top 5, she gets a entry into a WC race. Does she get to pick which race she enters or does the UCI assign her a race? If she gets to pick, which venue does she pick? Good to see the CDN on the podium 😎

1/19/2025 12:06pm Aren't Neko/Frameworks on friendly terms, like, Specialized is their e-bike sponsor level of friendly terms? Wouldn't be surprised if Specialized gave them the OK for testing and racing on Genie (if that is Genie) so long as it never showed up on a customer bike.

1/19/2025 11:42am Interesting note from the bottom of that article about warranties taking months now. Not surprising. Another little tidbit: I went skiing with a buddy of mine who manages a Rocky dealer. He said there's a number of pretty good deals to be had on complete bikes. He was trying to get a bunch for his floor but the bank currently...

1/19/2025 11:33am Smart play by Rivian to prove that their truck can haul a bike around, something one of their direct competitor struggles with. Though the bike on the back of the truck without a tailgate pad makes me wince. Realistically though, this sport needs outside money at all levels and it's nice to see something other than an energy drink picking up the tab. If there is one "hopeful" outcome with the gravity side becoming more "elite" is that more outside advertising money might come in.. Edit: Apparently rivian has a bespoke truck pad! I stand corrected

1/19/2025 11:34am Who gives a shit about how reliable rivians are, anybody's thoughts on EVs, etc, in this thread we should almost always be stoked when non-industry sponsors (making a OEM tailgate pad doesn't teleport them into the industry guys) get in on our guys and gals. Good on her for looking outside the mainline sponsors, who are all on the struggle...

1/19/2025 11:30am Good move for Rivian.. They have pushed themselves as an outdoor adventure vehicle and sponsoring someone in the MTB world ties in to that. Even before this announcement, they were my pick if I had the funds to buy an EV..
