Congrats to Bailey Goldstone on 3rd this weekend at NZ DH national series round 2. From what I understand from the new rules, because this race was part of the UCI continental series and in the top 5, she gets a entry into a WC race. Does she get to pick which race she enters or does the UCI assign her a race? If she gets to pick, which venue does she pick? Good to see the CDN on the podium 😎

1/19/2025 12:06pm Aren't Neko/Frameworks on friendly terms, like, Specialized is their e-bike sponsor level of friendly terms? Wouldn't be surprised if Specialized gave them the OK for testing and racing on Genie (if that is Genie) so long as it never showed up on a customer bike.

of note, I dont think of them as fad bikes, Just grinding your gears from a while back when you eluded to HP idler bikes being fad bikes.....

Smart play by Rivian to prove that their truck can haul a bike around, something one of their direct competitor struggles with. Though the bike on the back of the truck without a tailgate pad makes me wince. Realistically though, this sport needs outside money at all levels and it's nice to see something other than an energy drink picking up the tab. If there is one "hopeful" outcome with the gravity side becoming more "elite" is that more outside advertising money might come in.. Edit: Apparently rivian has a bespoke truck pad! I stand corrected

1/19/2025 11:34am Who gives a shit about how reliable rivians are, anybody's thoughts on EVs, etc, in this thread we should almost always be stoked when non-industry sponsors (making a OEM tailgate pad doesn't teleport them into the industry guys) get in on our guys and gals. Good on her for looking outside the mainline sponsors, who are all on the struggle...

Good move for Rivian.. They have pushed themselves as an outdoor adventure vehicle and sponsoring someone in the MTB world ties in to that. Even before this announcement, they were my pick if I had the funds to buy an EV..

Yes, something else is happening. All of the following is a guess, but I think a pretty good one. Gates, a company already well known for Motorcycle belts and that according to google, has $830m in revenue but has only dabbled in cycling in the fringes for years is saying LFG. They likely want in on the E-bike market as mixed motors/drivetrains evolve and full power E-bikes ditch derailleurs because lets be honest, traditional drivetrains just don't hold up as well under an e-bike mashing, and they know DH is going to test the to the limits. Am I the only one here who has ever ridden toe clips? I feel old. I am old I guess. I used to ride my toe clip pedals in soccer cleats with rubber spikes for better foot retention. Nice and tight in the chunder on my fully rigid bike but soft enough to be able to rip them out when in need.
