I'm assuming they wanted the kinematics to feel close to the A.200.M, but that would've meant they needed to jump through hoops to get the shock mounted. With a yoke, they can retain the kinematics, have the shock mounted down low for stability, and have a one piece gearbox/lower shock mount. It's essentially a trunnion shock but with a custom eye to eye.

it might be as simple as just needing clearance, the lower shock mount appears to go fairly low into the frame.  doesn't appear to be clearance for the reservoir

It's a similar layout to the Pivot overall.

Side note, I took delivery of a V2 Dreadnaught very recently, Absolute weapon, unless of course youre trying to pedal it up a hill, its just an excuse for better fitness.

No sir not at all. Its a cbf bike so it'll pedal better then any of your other enduro / trial bikes out there. Its also been setup to use the same shock set in different mounting holes to achieve different travel values and leverage ratios. Its literally a dh, enduro, or trail bike dependent on the build. I bet it outrides most others that can only do one as well. The steel (Ti coming soon) frame makes it better damped structurally then others as well. They are really cool rigs. Both the canfield bros offer superior products in my humble opinion.

Vampire is not really a "fad" bike in the sense you're making it to be. Chris has a patent on multiple pivot locations and you get 3 bikes in one - classic low pivot, medium height and proper high pivot.

No reason more companies couldn't license it as well. I'm sure that's what chris is angling for here.

when you say flipped are you referring to the yoke rotating the upper shock mount by 90 degrees? (trying to figure out if i misunderstood the initial question)

I wonder if Pinion is sponsoring any of the teams running gearboxes also.

Potential 100k from gates + whatever sponsorship $ Pinion is putting up could be very attractive at a time when other sponsors are pulling back investments.

They are also spending some money in the sponsored video series in the other site.

Good for them. Next season derailleurs vs gearbox bikes is going to be one of the most talked about topics for sure.

And remember there are quite a few races more this year. I would be surprised if Rachel is not able to get the new bike to the top spot at least once. The race is ON!

It’s wild that Big Belt is pumping this up while it’s the gearbox aspect that’s way more interesting. Pinion has to be hyped!

I don't know how is the snowmobile business these days, but they are going to sell a LOT of gearboxes (specially MGUs) in the next years if they don't have any big issues

Am I the only one here who has ever ridden toe clips? I feel old. I am old I guess. I used to ride my toe clip pedals in soccer cleats with rubber spikes for better foot retention. Nice and tight in the chunder on my fully rigid bike but soft enough to be able to rip them out when in need.

We are old. Zefal toe clips with bear trap pedals FTW! I switched to SPD in '93 [?] but will always have the scars.

Forgive me if it’s mentioned before and I missed it. Supposedly the new Scott Gambler was spotted (sorry it’s in German) https://www.mtb-news.de/news/scott-gambler-prototyp-2025/

pictures of of the gambler prototype have been posted in here a couple of times since summer.

Wooden-soled leather Sidi's w/ nailed-on cleats on Suntour XC pedals w/ toe-clips; freakin' terrifying on the bike, but even worse if you had to dab...

Steel Campy and WTB clip flips, with Rivat cyclocross shoes which also had soccer cleats on the heels. Are we going to need to start a separate back in the old days topic now?

I'm a millenial, but had toe clips on my first XC bike as a kid and it was probably one of the reasons I did not get bit by the mountain bike bug until my 20's...well and the bike itself was a deathtrap even with modern clip pedals.

@Spomer, can we please deviate the toe-clip topic to another thread, and make it in a slightly bigger default font?

I hope this is on topic - But since it was news from this week. Just got the OneUp pedals delivered. Some pics and size comparison to Saints for anyone that has been contemplating them.

They are very similar in size, I would say maybe 5% smaller overall platform.

Tried to "dry" clip them in to my Fox Union shoes, but the pins are quite high, and the clip mechanism seems quite hard (From my experience shimano is the same, and it takes a bit for them to "break in) - So I could not clip them in by hand and check how well it contacts the shoe. Pins are not adjustable afaik. But its probably a non issue when mounted and you use your body weight.

In the Downtime episode about the pedals they mentioned that they had something new in flat pedals coming; I'm guessing it'll be the bearing layout from the clips; anyone else know anything?

Looks like Trek is testing updated rear end for the session.

Seatstay could be carbon or just painted?
Maybe new pivot location or idler location?
