TEAMROBOT Liked a comment about Feature BRAKE JACK DOESN'T EXIST!! Advice!! with Team Robot, March 2021
4/4/2023 6:51am Just6979, you perfectly described why the world’s fastest riders ride forks that are basically locked out, but still ride 30-40% rear sag like the rest of us. It’s not just that they like stiff suspension. Pros hate uncontrolled weight shift, but they love a loaded-up front tire that’s gripping when they brake.

4/3/2023 9:35pm I think he hit on the issue when he noted that we are in the 21st Century. The UCI is always a few centuries behind. It's a shame that they took an interest in mountain biking. They've taken away a lot, and added nothing.

4/3/2023 9:34pm What is so bad about adult entertainment that UCI cannot be assosiated with it (especially just by having a contestant having a website that has porn as a sponsor). Its not like porn is illegal or evil or is that how its seen in the US? Where I live it is very normal for adults to consume porn so i dont really get it. Its not like he is sponsored by a website promoting violence, drug abuse or terrorism etc. Seems very narrow minded and fundamentalistic to me.

4/3/2023 9:33pm I have my doubts that they're really trying to change it into anything other than a porn website. There's so much association of "OnlyFans" with porn that it might be an unshakable reputation. Think of the skepticism you would receive while explaining to your boss that the OF pages in your browser history, or to your spouse that the OF charges on your credit card are just you watching mountain bike vlogs. You would think that if OnlyFans really wanted to appeal outside of porn, they would offer a separate platform free of the baggage. It might sound conspiracy-brained (but...

4/1/2023 7:29am I have a 130/150mm trail bike with two sets of wheels - a lightweight carbon XC wheelset and a considerably heavier enduro wheelset with Assegai's and cushcores. When I put the xc wheels on I pump up the shock (from 210 to 300psi) so that the bike feels like a xc bike. In xc mode I don't bottom out my shock - due to the extra pressure I typically use no more than ~100mm of travel. My suspension is schmicko when it's in Enduro mode as I've spent ages getting the rebound speed just right. My question is; when I...

3/31/2023 9:35pm Great question! You're correct that total spring forced damped is probably equal to or less than your enduro setup, so I can see why you assume the damping necessary is equal, but there's more at play here than just damping your rebound stroke at the deepest part of your travel. Interestingly, most of the high speed rebound damping that occurs at bottom out is provided by shims on your main piston, which aren't adjustable with your rebound knob. Your rebound knob is mostly just affecting rebound speed at the top 2/3's of travel. Generally speaking, faster rebound settings are going...

3/25/2023 6:22am It’s looks like the rear triangle on Rhys Verners Dreadnought is different, or he is riding the DH bike with a single crown? The bracing at the top tube to seatstay is not on the dreadnought frame. His bike also does not have the team colorway.

3/24/2023 6:41am I'd like to understand how charger 3 works on the new rockshox fork and how they designed low and high speed compression to be independent of each other. If I close low speed based on their diagram, oil is only flowing through the high speed circuit but it looks like oil flow path for high speed is less restrictive than if high speed and low speed was open, so wouldn't it feel spiky and harsh on fast impact? Same for the opposite if I increase high speed compression or even close it all the way, it looks like low speed...

3/23/2023 6:12am Dirty booger: "You can then ask the important questions like why is RockShox so enamored with digressive compression and rebound stacks?" Pedaling platform in my opinion. Walking a tightrope between gooshy, saggy while pedaling and getting the "popoff*" just to be at the velocity of a human leg at 65 cadence. * too weird of an example to use the dyno sheet reader term "knee"

3/23/2023 6:07am Rear shocks do not have Mid-Valves. Let's take a 170mm travel trail bike: Front wheel travel is 170mm, fork travel is 170mm. Front Fork Wheel Velocity Range is 0-9m/sec, fork velocity is 0-9m/sec Rear wheel travel is 170mm, shock travel is 65mm. Rear wheel velocity is 0-7m/sec, shock velocity is 0-2.7m/sec This is due to the fact that rear shocks are driven by a linkage or pivot system so the motion is not directly 1:1 like a front fork. Because forks are dealing with a larger travel and velocity range, mid-valves were introduced as another tuning element to reduce compromise...

3/21/2023 5:52am Hey all... I fancy myself a suspension technology nerd but I believe that I (like most) understand just enough of it to be dangerous. I've envisioned a general suspension technology thread on this forum for quite some time. The point of this thread (as I have it envisioned at least) would be to discuss theories, past products/engineering and of course, new stuff. Think of it as a place to discuss things such as: -Discussing the impact/theory of mid valves and base-valves in forks -Poppet valves vs shimmed compression valves -Oil paths in certain shock architectures and what it means for...
